I went to a baptist service and a mass today.

I sometimes get down on the Homilies at mass so i wanted to hear a fired up preacher with some energy. i went to a close by Baptist church.

Everyone at the Baptist church was very smiley and friendly. I got an eary feeling that they were doing “what they were supposed to do”. The music was great and they actually played some great hymns.

After some worship music a preacher got up and read numerous readings from Malachi. The preacher gave his teachings on the word and then it was all over.

I felt empty I walked out at the end and RAN to mass.

I honestly think that anyone who loves scripture would be intoxicated with it in the Liturgy of the word. Everything we do and say is DIRECTLY out of the bible, we are truly, truly praying the scripture in Mass. another thing about the mass that I noticed is that you are allowed to pray it exactly how you are. I was not particularly cheery today, but no one cares at Mass. Praise God when you are sad and happy too!

Praise God for the holy Mass!

Just had to share!

I went to mass today and my daughter went a little nuts so I had to go to the crying room. I missed out on some of the homily, yet I did get to read the readings and hear most of them.

I loved how the readings fit together and how we need to realize that God’s ways are not our ways, God has His own ways of doing things.

Is 55:6-9
Phil 1:20c-24, 27a
Mt 20:1-16a

Here are the readings for those of you who missed some of it. Though I think there is a thread somewhere for the readings of the day.

I too love to go to Mass even if the Homilies are sometimes a little dry, I was there to worship.

God Bless

For the last two weeks I have actually missed Mass due to being very ill, today was my first day back. I can’t begin to say how much I had missed it!! The reverency, the organ, the choir, the homily and most importantly the Eucharist - I feel as though I’m on top of the world right now. I actually plan on going to daily Mass every day this week - hoping to make up for lost time, I’ve missed it immensely.

I missed Mass for about 4 weeks in a row last summer due to health problems. When I was able to come back, I quietly cried through the whole thing. It takes something like that to make us realize what a wonderful thing we have. I’ve started going to daily Mass too when I can.

Santaro, I agree with you wholeheartedly. My in-laws attend a nondenominational Christian church and we go with them on Christmas Eve. I would never, ever tell them this, but it’s just not the same. It feels empty to me, not because the people aren’t devout, and I think God is there, but He’s not present in the way He is in a Catholic Mass. I’m always happy to get to midnight Mass or Mass the next morning; it’s like coming home.

I missed Mass last Sunday because of being out of state and staying with one of my anti-Catholic relatives whom I knew better than to ask to take me.
I flew to Mass yesterday morning with joy and felt as though I’d been away forever!
Praise and thank God for The Holy Mass is spot on!!
