It is interesting that it was tranlated from Portuguese.

Did Pravda pick it up from another source or does Artur Rosa Teixeira write for Pravda?

I did a little research. One source said that Sr. Teixeira is not Catholic. oblatvs.blogspot.com/2010/04/escritor-portugues-nao-catolico-defende.html

Anyway, it’s interesting that this should appear in Pravda!

I’m old enough to recall that the iea of Pravda saying anything at all positive about the Church would have been earth-shaking. Too bad this is what it took.
 
Scary that the NYT is more anti-Catholic than Pravda.

As is seen from this article, Pravda today is very much pro-Catholic. More generally, relations between Catholics and Russian Orthodox Christians are warming up and becoming more friendly.
