In prayer, to be humble as a child, dependent, trusting, teachable, receptive and responsive to love.
In prayer, knowing that one is in need of help and love, like a child.
In prayer, responding to God, with joy and love, like a child.

Matthew 18:1-5
The Greatest in the Kingdom.
1 At that time the disciples approached Jesus and said, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a child over, placed it in their midst,
3 and said, “Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.

Vico’s post was very good. I would like to add one more idea.

When reading the Gospels, Jesus sometimes refers to those he is preaching to as “children”. He looks upon them as children and also us as well, because we have become children of God by our baptism of water and the spirit. That is, we are “born” into his kingdom which makes us his children. Without being “born” again, this would not happen.

The very first order he gave to his apostles, after his own baptism, was to go out and start baptizing. Because he wanted everyone to become children of God.
