Pray for a Job

Hi Catholic Answers,

Can you please pray that I get an offer for a job I applied for? I believe this is the job God has for me, but dark forces from Satan are getting in the way. Before I had the interview, I prayed to God to give me a sign if he wanted me to leave the area and move back with my parents 400 miles away or stay where I am as I wasn’t hearing back on any jobs I applied to and I had to sign a new lease or be forced to move. A week later before the lease was due, I heard back from a dream company and dream position. Before I had the interview, a priest blessed me and on the way to the interview I saw a Saint Joseph street, I have been praying to Saint Joseph a lot.

The company hasn’t gotten back to me even though I have followed up. I know God is capable of miracles. Can you please pray that Satan’s dark forces do not stop what God has intended and God come through for me soon and I get an offer so I can pay my bills? My unemployment ends in a week and bills are piling in every day.

O Saint Joseph, we pray to you for those who are out of work, for those who want to earn their living or support their families.

You who are the patron of workers; grant that unemployment may vanish from our ranks; that all those who are ready to work may put their strength and abilities in serving their fellowmen and earn a just salary.

You are the patron of families; do not let those who have children to support and raise lack the necessary means. Have pity on our brothers and sisters held down in unemployment and poverty because of sickness or social disorders. Help our political leaders and captains of industry find new and just solutions. May each and every one have the joy of contributing, according to his abilities, to the common prosperity by an honorable livelihood. Grant that we may all share together in the abundant goods God has given us and that we may help underprivileged countries. Amen.

Thank you all for the prayers, it is deeply appreciated. It is not hard not to read into the situation and say why haven’t they called me yet and panic? But when I think how it was the best interview I ever had, how I was about to move until that opportunity came up, saw the Saint Joseph street, and the priest blessing, it feels like this is definitely from God. . . .

Is it normal to be discouraged? It’s been six months since I started my job search and this is the only interview I had. To be honest, I’m scared. I sometimes don’t understand what God is trying to do with my life. If it’s not this job, I am not sure what else it can be.
 
Hey there I got an update the recruiter has been on a long vacation. Let’s pray I get the job when she returns next week.

I am so sorry you have to wait so long to hear back; you must be on “pins and needles.” I will pray that the job is yours next week and worth the wait!~

Prayer of apology and thanksgiving because of forgetfulness to say “thank You” to Our Lord for all the blessings He pours on us and we do not even realize it. The thread could also be closed before we know it and I want to get the “thank You” in. 😃 The self-admonitions of Santa Teresa de Jesús (the original Spanish is 11 stanzas) is quite helpful during life’s difficult times.

Hi Luz Maria,

Your enthusiasm that the job search has ended is deeply appreciated! I do not have an offer yet, 8 had an interview on Thursday and I had an interview two weeks ago. I have not head. Back on the interview from Thursday despite my attempts to follow up.

It is helpful to remember like you said to thank God for what we do have, 5!-!& you for that reminder. I am going to look up what Saint Theresa said. Thank you for your prayers and remembering me!
