Loving God,
You sent your Son Jesus into this world to be an example to us all.
From a young age He followed Your will.
He preached, healed and led people to You.
He suffered, He died and He rose.
We pray for the youth and young adults of this country.
Give them knowledge, courage and a willing heart to be the disciples of today.
To learn God’s will, to share God’s message and to be God’s people.
To know, to love and to serve with youthful zeal.
Bless them with happiness, friendship, love, laughter, peace, hope, faith, achievement and direction.
May we all be one.
Amen.
 
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve:
to thee do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us,

Prayer for Our Children

O Lord, omnipotent Father, we give you thanks for having given us children. They are our joy, and we accept with serenity the worries, fears and labors which bring us pain. Help us to love them sincerely. Through us you gave life to them; from eternity you knew them and loved them. Give us the wisdom to guide them, patience to teach them, vigilance to accustom them to the good through our example. Support our love so that we may receive them back when they have strayed and make them good. It is often so difficult to understand them, to be as they would want us to be, to help them go on their way. Grant that they may always see our home as a haven in their time of need. Teach us and help us, O good Father, through the merits of Jesus, your Son and our Lord. Amen.

O Glorious Saint John Bosco, who,
in order to lead young people to the feet of the divine Master and
to form them in the light of faith and Christian morality,
didst heroically sacrifice thyself to the very end of thy life and
didst found a fitting religious Institute destined to endure and
to bring to the farthest boundaries of the earth thy glorious work,
obtain also for us from our Lord a holy love for young people,
who are exposed to so many seductions,
in order that we may generously spend ourselves in supporting them
against the snares of the devil,
in keeping them safe from the dangers of the world,
and in guiding them, pure and holy,
in the path that leads to God.

Prayer for Child and Youth Protection

Dear God, we ask you to help all those who suffer from abuse. Help them find healing and peace in their life. May Maria Goretti who was strengthened by Your Grace join with us in prayer for healing of all victims of abuse, particularly those abused as children or young adults. Grant us in Your Love that we might reach out to them in Your Name with hope in times of trial. As Maria prayed for her attacker, grant us the grace to pray for the true conversion of all involved with the abuse, that they might seek Your Mercy through prayer and penance. Loving God, pour into our hearts and lives your healing Spirit, that the sacredness of every human person might be respected and protected as the precious image of God. Help us to live in the peace which Maria Goretti had found in Christ and in the love of his mother Mary. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lord, we ask you to help us hear the cry of our children and become advocates for youth and children in our society. Help us to create room for children in the church, promote their place in our life and worship so that they can ‘be themselves’ and develop as you would have them develop. Help us also to humbly listen to them and learn from them.
