I have a good friend - he is like a brother to me - who lives in Nevada. He (Victor) and his wife (Kristi) have son (Josh) with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy. Now if you know anything about Muscular Dystrophy you’ll know that Duchenne’s it is about the worst variety of MD there is and people who have it rarely live past the age of 25. Josh is 20. He has been in a wheelchair since he was about 12.

Josh has spent the last two weeks in the hospital with congestive heart failure. Their application for a transplant was denied; his long term prognosis was not good enough to justify a donor heart. Instead Josh and his mom are being flown by helicopter this Monday (the 21st) to the USC Medical Center in Los Angeles and he will be prepped for surgery as soon as they get there. They are going to install something called an LVAD (Google it); basically a mechanical pump that takes over the job of the left ventricle. It is not a full artificial heart but it helps the heart to do its job. This should give Josh a new lease on life for now.

Please pray for Josh’s surgery goes well and for the well-being of his parents. Thank you.
 
Prayer for Healing Heart Disease

Loving Father, You bring healing to the sick
and make them well again. Trusting in Your
great love and mercy, I lift up to You Josh,
who needs healing of heart disease. Hear
my prayers and bring him into Your loving
presence.

Let the grace of Your divine love flow
to the different parts of his body, reaching the
inner recesses of his being. Touch his heart
and all the areas afflicted with sickness and
let his organs function normally. Touch his
blood vessels and arteries and let his blood
flow properly.

Bring healing to all his nerves, muscles,
and tissues, especially those surrounding
his heart. Console him, ease his pain and
suffering, and restore him to full health
in body, mind, and spirit.

And after he has been healed, may he be
a witness of your healing power and love
and bring glory, honor, and praise to you.

All this we pray in Jesus’ name through
Mary with all the angels and saints.

I’m praying for him. May God make the surgery go smoothly and may He heal Josh. May He also strengthen and comfort Josh’s family.
