I’ve been away from confession for far too long. I’m ashamed to admit it’s been 20+ years. I’ve gone to communal services, but I’ve been experiencing a desire to go back to confession. I’ve made an appointment and am going to confess this Thursday.

Please pray for me. I want to go, but am very shy. The priest I am going to belongs to an order that is known for hearing confessions and giving missions. I think I will be all right, but again I would appreciate any and all prayers.

Aw, you’re going to be alright. Just remember how awesome God is and how forgiving he is as well.

Tell the priest up front the situation. He’ll help you through it. This is going to be the best day of your life! Prayer ascending!

I went to confession after a 26 year absence. I, too, am rather shy and once I decided I wanted to go it took me a month to get up the nerve to make the appointment.

The priest was very happy that I wanted to return to the Church after such a long absence. At the end of my confession he said that all the angels and saints in heaven were cheering and clapping for me because I had returned to God.

It was one of the best days of my life and it will be for you too.

I’ll keep you in my prayers.

After you go to confession, you’re gonna wonder what took you so long! My prayers are with you!

I know you are going to be a bit nervous, but I promise you when it’s over, you’ll be so happy you went.

I’ll be praying for you also. Remember it is Jesus who is waiting for you in the confessional. He’s only hidden by the priest. Before you go, pray for the priest also. Ask Jesus to give him insight into your heart so that he will be able to guide you better. That way when the priest does talk with you, you may better be able to feel that Christ is speaking through him when he tells you your sins are forgiven.

May all of God’s blessings be with you on this day.

Thank all of you for your prayers. I’ve never fallen from the church, I always went to Mass, it’s just confession I had a problem with. However, this past Lent I felt such an urge telling me to go that I broke down and made the appointment. I’ve been making the Divine Mercy novena and look forward to celebrating the feast with a clean heart.

Hi, It was 25 years for me. Also felt this “pull” you speak of. actually it was more like a 2x4 to the head :bigyikes: . Pray to the Holy Spirit, I guarantee you He will listen and guide you. Make sure you do an examination of conscience before hand, be prepared, I spent 45 minutes in the cofessional, felt like 2 minutes. God Bless you.

Pax vobiscum!

The priest will likely be more happy that you are coming to confession than the person that makes it in every day or every week. I am glad you made this decision and my prayers will be with you! 🙂

In Christ,
Rand

Well it was wonderful. I literally felt a weight off my back. I had Father bless my St. Benedict medal too, and went off to perform my penance with a light heart. God is so merciful.

It’s the best thing a catholic can do…an awesome , awesome sacrament !!! [and biblical ]. Try not to leave ANYTHING OUT…👍

Confession is so very helpful to me…It really helps me keep from committing sins because I don’t want to have to confess them! I try to go about twice a month.
How many times do you all go?
