I don’t want to go into details, but I called and left a message with my confessor to schedule a confession sometime this weekend. Please pray for me as I feel so empty and ashamed right now.
Benny:
Hear the words of St. Paul the Apostle:
*I thank him who has given me strength for this, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful by appointing me to his service, though I formerly blasphemed and persecuted and insulted him; but I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And I am the foremost of sinners; but I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience for an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.***
Amen.**
I Tim. 1:12-17 RSV
And, the words of the St. John the Apostle:
My little children, I am writing this to you so that you may not sin; but if any one does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the expiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
I John 2:1-2 RSV
BennyBoy, the purpose of guilt is to get you to repent of your sin and to get you into confession so you can be reconciled to God, serve and please Him in the newness of life, continue in the holy fellowshop of God’s One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church and walk in all such good works as our Lord has prepared for us to walk in. It’s not to make you feel so empty and ashamed that you feel as if God can’t or won’t forgive you.
Please do whatever it takes to make sure you get into confession – Our Lord has empowered His presbyters, His holy Catholic priests, to pronouce forgivenes of sins in His name and to lift that burden of sin from your shoulders.
Your Brother in Christ, Michael
