Since at least the last semester, all I’ve wanted to do is watch pointless YouTube videos all day. I don’t want to do this, but it’s hard to stop. I like to call YouTube and gaming “Digital Heroin” because that’s what it feels like: Extremely addictive and time draining.

Since all my mind wants to do is watch stupid videos, I’ve lost all motivation to do anything else, such as practice music, do homework, pray, check my emails, or read the bible. This “addiction” only happens when I’m at my computer. If I go anywhere else, be it work, outside, to college, or just the bathroom I can easily do my homework.

Please pray that I can overcome this Internet addiction, that I can regain my motivation to do my homework (not that I ever really wanted to do it to be honest), that I can get motivated to pray again, and to get motivated to play music more often. Thanks! 👍

P.S.
Of course, the homework thing is another story of it’s own because while I am getting good grades, I really don’t want to be a computer guy. My favorite thing is interacting with people and making them happy. You can’t do that as a programmer. My dream job is the job I have already at a local supermarket. I’ve always wanted to work in a store since I was a little kid, and I love it! I love talking to the customers and doing the register/stocking the shelves/filling people’s cars with gas. I know I would hate being stuffed away in an office. I’m happy as it is, but it’s a shame I can’t work at the supermarket forever unless I won the lottery or had two jobs. I am pretty sure I’m not called to marriage as I’ve always felt it wasn’t for me since I was a small child. I’m pretty sure I could easily make about $25,000 a year with two jobs which would be perfect for supporting me by myself. I’m pretty sure this last text group has turned into a bit of a ramble so I’ll stop now. 😉

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

Only YOU can fix this serious problem. I pray you can find the way.

Hi Melodeonist,

I’m so sorry for your struggles. 😦

Prayers said for your intentions.

May God bless you in your time of need.

I am praying for your intentions. Also praying for the Medical Doctors that might be seen or if needed, in the future. It is nice to have already prayed for the Drs.(Our Lord knows who they are even if not born yet - long, healthy life 😉). Prayer of Apology and Thanksgiving because of human forgetfulness to say “thank You” to Our Lord. . . . 😉 🙂

Act of Hope and Confidence in God
Saint Claude de la Colombiere
:signofcross:
My God,
I believe most firmly that You watch over all who hope in You,
and that we can want for nothing when we rely upon You in all things.
Therefore I am resolved for the future…to cast all my cares upon You.
People may deprive me of worldly goods and status.
Sickness may take from me my strength and the means of serving You.
I may even jeopardize our relationship by sin, but my trust shall never leave me.
I will preserve it to the last moment of my life, and the powers of hell shall seek
…… in vain to grab it from me.
Let others seek happiness in their wealth and in their talents.
Let them trust in the purity of their lives,
the severity of their mortifications,
in the number of their good works,
the enthusiasm of their prayers,
as for me, my Rock and my Refuge, my confidence in you fills me with hope.
For You, my Divine Protector, alone have settled me in hope.
“This confidence can never be vain. No one, who has hoped in God, has
…… ever been confounded.”
I am assured, therefore, of my eternal happiness,
…… for I firmly hope in it and all my hope is in You.
“In You, O loving God, have I hoped: let me never be confounded.”
I know too well that I am weak and changeable. I know the power of
…… temptation against the strongest virtue.
I have seen stars fall and foundations of my world crack;
…… these things do not alarm me.
While I hope in You, I am sheltered from all misfortune,
…… and I am sure that my trust shall endure,
…… for I rely upon You to sustain this unfailing hope.
Finally, I know that my confidence cannot exceed Your generosity, and that I
…… shall never receive less than I have hoped for from You.
Therefore I hope that You will sustain me against my evil inclinations,
…… that You will protect me against the deceitful attacks of the evil one,
…… and that You will cause my weakness to triumph over every hostile force.
I hope that You will never cease to love me and that I shall love You unceasingly.
“In You, O loving God, have I hoped: let me never be confounded.”

St. Claude de la Colombiere, pray for us!

Prayer for Medical Doctors
O merciful Father,
Who have wonderfully fashioned man in Your own image,
and have made his body to be a temple of the Holy Spirit,
sanctify, we pray You, our doctors and nurses and all those whom you have called to
…study and practice the arts of healing the sick and the prevention of disease and pain.
Strengthen them in body and soul,
and bless their work,
that they may give comfort to those for whose salvation Your Son became Man,
lived on this earth, healed the sick,
and suffered and died on the Cross.
Amen.

Apology and Thanksgiving Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Creator of all and source of all goodness and love,
please look kindly upon us,
as we ask for forgiveness for not giving You thanks.
Please receive our heartfelt apology for the lack of gratitude.
Remind us at all times that You are always worthy of our thanks.

Thank You, Heavenly Father,
for all the graces and blessings
You have bestowed upon us:
our faith and religious heritage;
the Priests who bring us the Sacraments;
our life, food and shelter;
our health, the love we have for one another;
our Police Officers and Firefighters who keep us safe;
our Soldiers and Veterans who fight and fought for our Country;
our family and friends.
Thank You for the people You so generously send us;
…everything You grant us
…and of which we are not even aware.
Dear Father, in Your infinite generosity, please grant us the grace of having
…less “give me” and more gratitude throughout the coming
…years so that we may be aware that anything from You is good
…for You turn the “bad” into blessings for us.
Please Lord, grant us the grace of not forgetting that we can thank You
…over and over again for the same gift – and if we
…forget, may our Guardian Angel remind us.
Thank You, Lord.
I Love You, Lord.
Amen… …by Luz María

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with Thee,
blessed are Thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of Thy womb,
Jesus.

Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Internet addiction affects more people than you can realize including a friend of mine who was dismissed from religious life because of her inability to stay away-off-the internet. You can unplug the internet in your room. Peace and good luck and prayers, too.

May you find shelter under the mantle of Our Lady. May the Holy Spirit guide you down a path in accordance with the will of Our Lord.
Amen.

Hi Melodionist,
Do you think a bit of regularly scheduled volunteer work might help you develop a new habit that is more in accordance with your callings?
Perhaps providing music at a local nursing home once a week, or helping out at a food bank and seeing if your grocery store discards might be donatable?
It sounds as though some of your talents and interests might be really useful to others.
May God bless you.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Thanks for all the replies! 😃

While I would love to go on an “internet fast”, I’m afraid I actually can’t do that because practically all my homework is online. Because of this, I start my computer early so as to hopefully get my homework done before I have to drive to college. Problem is, once I start my computer I just have a lot of trouble avoiding YouTube. If I don’t access YouTube for my “fix”, I do hideously pointless Google images or Wikipedia searches. :eek:

Prayer Against Addiction

Everlasting father I surrender my life to you, please take total and absolute control of my life as from today in the name of Jesus.
Father my body, soul and spirit I commit into your hand, please cleanse me with the blood of Jesus in the name of Jesus.
It is written, “call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee and thou shall glorify me” (Psalm 50:15). Father, deliver me from evil spirit of addiction to the internet that I have invited to my life in the name of Jesus.
I renounce and reject every spirit of addiction to the internet. Heavenly father uproot all form of addiction to the digital world from my life in the name of Jesus.

Amen.

Remember,
O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins my Mother;
to thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful;
O Mother of thy Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy clemency hear and answer me.
Amen

Hail Mary, full of grace,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,

Bud do an our father turnoff the pc, and go run or hike at your nearest nature reserve. After the physical excercise your head should be in the right place.

Praying for your intention. You can try banning youtube.com from coming up in the security settings in your browser. Also, you can find someone else to be accountable to. For instance letting them know each day how much time you were on YouTube.
