I had to take a hiatus from school this quarter due to financial reasons, and am hoping to return to school this upcoming quarter. I have sought every avenue open to me, and am going in tomorrow to talk to financial aide about taking out a student-specific loan. The problem is that, because I have been in charge of my own finances since I was sixteen (when my parents had to declare bankruptcy), I have taken out lines of credit and financed a car to ensure my credit independency for college. Unfortunately, unforeseen events caused my credit to crumble this past year as I was unemployed for quite a while and watched as bills went first one month and then two months past due. Thankfully, the Lord saw fit to allow me to be able to get a job and get my bills current.
Unfortunately, because of my university’s policy on students and off-term health insurance, I now owe them money from over the summer and this quarter that I am unable to pay right now out of pocket, which will put me in the dire situation of having to begin paying on my student loans from my first two years of school. If this happens, I will have no choice but to unenroll completely from school. This brings up a mess of other legal issues that I will have to face including early termination of a lease and possible repossession of my car that I would rather not think about right now.
So, please keep me in your prayers as I go request my loan tomorrow. I greatly appreciate it, no matter the outcome. Wherever life shuts the door, God opens a window. I just pray that I will have the courage and the strength to discern this window should the door be closed on me.
