I have gone almost a year (since December 3 of last year). without engaging in sexual self-abuse. Am struggling today. Home alone. This morning looked at bad videos on YouTube and nearly lost it. Afraid to shower now. Pray for me today. The battle is never over …

We aim and strive to see one another as God sees us; not as beings for sexual pleasure, but as brothers, sisters, sons and daughters. You are fighting this battle with so much strength and humility. Good for you! I am praying for you today.

Videos/Internet can be a near occasion of sin…do your best to avoid “those” types of videos, etc.

I am not a man so I am sure I don’t know just how hard this is for you. May God give you strength.

Thank you all for your kind support. I made it through the rest if the afternoon without further damage. My wife is now home and I think I will be OK. Thank you for the prayers and good advice.

Glad that you sought prayers for this fight. Some words of advice from other soldiers in the field:

Next time, get out of the house. Don’t even turn the computer on if you’re alone in the house. There’s no reason to flirt with that type of poison. A big problem with porn is that once you’re exposed to it, it embeds itself in your mind and is hard to get out. It’s like radiation poisoning: once it is there, it never goes away. All that repeated exposures do it pile damage upon damage.

I’m not saying Christ can’t heal your guilt. I’m saying that your mind has built-in strong chemical ties to sexual exposure. God meant this “emotional duct tape” to bind you to your wife, not to some illusion on a computer screen. Would you rather have a life-long mental bond to your wife or some computer image? Strengthen your emotional and mental intimacy with your wife and your marital situation can improve dramatically. Sometimes, women are more open to the marital embrace when their emotional and psychological needs are being fulfilled. The more ties to your wife, the better you are as a husband, too, because that is your vocation: to love and honor her all the days of your life. God knows that this is what will fulfill you the most.

When the urge to open yourself up to these sinful situations arises, remove yourself from even flirting with it. Remind yourself that you will be infinitely more happy if you save yourself for your spouse.

It’s a temptation for every male in this country, and just because you’re married doesn’t mean that your immune. Keep up the fight, and avail yourself of Confession regularly:thumbsup:

Thank you for the great advice. I have just begun to try to rebuild things along the lines you suggest. - rebuilding my intimacy with my wife. And I am going to Confession tomorrow.
