On December 7, 2011 infamous cop killer and Black Panther leader Mumia Abu-Jamal’s death sentence was overturned after 30 years of appeals. He is no longer on death row and will spend the rest of his life behind bars where he belongs. Mumia murdered Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner, a Catholic, on December 9, 1981. 12 jurors found him guilty and sentenced him to death. His widow, Maureen Faulkner, also Catholic, has suffered and valiantly battled 30 years of injustice. I just finished reading her explosive book, “Murdered by Mumia: A Life Sentence of Loss, Pain, and Injustice.” Mumia has had the support of Sister Helen Prejean, the death penalty abolitionist and author of the book, “Dead Man Walking,” and the support of Hollywood do-gooders who know nothing about the facts of the case. Mumia has been praised as a hero by the uninformed.
Maureen’s book is powerful and a lesson in American death penalty cases. I agree with her: Abu-Jamal was the most publicized case for death penalty abolitionists.
According to a CNN report, 2011 has seen the highest number of murders of police officers in our history!
www.DanielFaulkner.com is Maureen Faulkner’s in-depth site about the case. Every American must know about the cruelty endured by this young wife at the hands of a cop killer, his communist defense attorney, Hollywood’s infatuation with Mumia, the unsubstantiated charges of racism toward the district attorney and the judge who heard the case; and the endurance of one woman who has spent her life – her life! – defending the name of Officer Daniel Faulkner, her young husband.
God bless you, Maureen! You are forever in my prayers. Police officers are in my family and forever in my prayers, too!
