Hi all, my husband and I are currently having our marriage convalidated since we were not married in the Church (he is So. Baptist).

Today, we went over some questions and filled out paperwork. Then our priest got to the “you promise to raise your children in the Catholic faith…have them baptized Catholic, etc.” part and my husband kinda “freaked”.

He said he was caught off guard by the question because he didn’t know I would have to promise this. I thought I’d mentioned it to him before, but maybe he didn’t understand what I was saying.

At any rate, he said that he feels okay with it, but just wants some time to think and talk about it (we don’t have children yet).

Please pray for our decision on this, as his refusal will certainly affect our marriage and my participating in the Catholic faith.

Thank you!!

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord, is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women and
blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of death. Amen.

Praying that he goes through with the convalidation ceremony …

Lord, please inspire PolishK’s husband to want to do the right thing and to do it: to be perfectly okay with bringing up his children Catholic. How wonderful that this couple is going to be wed in your Church! Bless them abundantly and fill them with your love and supernatural life. Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Amen.

Krista, Having had my marriage convalidated (though my children were grown), I know it was a bit confusing for my wife. I pray to the Holy Spirit that he will direct your husband’s heart to see that your children will benefit from exposer to both Christian Religions.

Peace & all good

Oh Lord, I pray that your mercy and grace cover this couple as they come before You to convalidate their marriage. Help them to grow in true love for one another that grows from their love of You. Protect them and their family… from the enemy…

Holy Mary mother of God
Pray for us sinners, now
and at the hour of our death.
