If I could ask of you you’re prayers I would be very grateful and comforted. I am facing a time right now that is at once joyful and daunting.

Years ago, I was among other things, an outspoken atheist, I was also an aspiring writer and had a tendency to associate myself with a very hedonistic crowd. I have left that behind me about 2 years ago when after many months of being tugged at in my heart I gave the first confession I had given in a long time. I spoke in the confessional weeping bitterly for my sins and walked out with tears of joy. Since that time, I've given time to pause and reflect on my life. Over the past 2 years I've come to realize that I may be called to the consecrated life.

In this period of reflection I have seen times throughout my life when (even as an atheist) I unknowingly fought on the side of Catholic Church and unknowingly defended her against attacks against her teachings. Having come to the astonishing conclusion hat the truths I was willing to fight for were shared among the many truths of the church I began to examine my position and had come to ask a new question: How can one define Christianity. It was something as an atheist I could not come to a conclusion on because so may doctrines contradicted each other. I admit that I wanted this knowledge because I was hoping to use it to my advantage but God had allowed me to pursue this sin so that he may transform it to virtue. He caused me to look back on a life I spent before drifting from the Catholic church, and how I caused myself to lose the peace I once had. It was a peace I had longed for for years. along with the return of this peace has come an overwhelming love for the sacraments, most especially Our Lord in the Eucharist.

I ask for your prayers because starting this week I will be speaking with my spiritual director and we will be discussing a trip I plan to make to New York to see the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. They are an order that I had my eyes on long before I ever even knew or even heard of Fr Benedict Groeschel's work for EWTN. I ask for prayers that these efforts will aid me in discerning my vocation. Ive also had moments too that I need prayers for. Since returning to the Church, the Devil I believe has become furious with “the one that got away” and has tried to place doubt in me and has been mocking me every step of the way. He tries to rob me of peace by placing undesired and terrible thoughts in my mind. When I sincerely place my Trust in Christ, I overcome these threats but I feel that the closer I come to realizing this call the more desperate the Devil is getting. I used to think that spiritual combat was all fairy tales but, It is all too real.
I ask please pray for the coming months, and ask for the intercession of St. Augustine, (I consider him my patron) St. Francis, and our Blessed mother. Our Lady has done much to lead me from the path of sin and I pray for her continued protection.

Thank you, I ask God bless you all.

Praying very hard for you and will keep you in my prayers. I feel a special bond with St. Augustine too (my parish is St. Augustine’s) …what a beautiful expression of a prayer request you made. I know that God will provide for you and that His plan will unfold…May God lessen your anxiety and fill you with the love and peaceful surroundings of the Holy Spirit…I know you will be an awesome addition…

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name, please help Gabriel through this testing time (it reminds me of something St Therese went through). Grant that Gabriel’s trip to New York to see the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal will be inspiring and will calm the storm. Please grant that that these efforts will aid him in discerning his vocation, and make him unwaveringly faithful to this call if it comes from You.

Please guard Gabriel’s thoughts from ‘undesired and terrible thoughts’. Grant him the peace of Christ that the world cannot give. Keep the Angels around him, the archangels Michael and Gabriel to guard and protect him; St Francis to claim him; Augustine to instruct him, and Mother Mary to cherish him and lead him always to her Son. Holy Spirit, let Your light and wisdom and love fill Gabriel’s soul and mind and heart. Amen

Praying for you!!! asking the intercession of Our Lady, entrusting you to her Immaculate Heart, St. Francis and St. Augustine.

Blessings on you as you discern.

Remember, o most gracious Virgin Marym that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, sought thy help, or asked thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee o Virgin of Virgins, my Mother. To thee I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Gabriel, you are in my prayers.
And St.Francis of Asisi is my favorite Saint.

Lord of the Powers be with us, for in times of distress we have no other help but You.
Lord of the Powers, have mercy on Gabriel.

I ask for the intercession of St. Augustine, St. Francis, and our Blessed mother on behalf of Gabriel Syme. Please pray with us that this man have all evil things of this world moved from his path. Father, guide him to where you want him to be. We ask this in the name of Jesus!
AMEN

Welcome back, I am praying very, very hard for your success. I find prayer works when temptations come my way. Good luck!

Praying for you and the plans the Lord has for you. Jeremiah 29:11

I want to thank you all for your support and prayers, they are definitely helping, there was much less worrying to be made in all circumstances this weekend. Even in those challenging moments knowing that you folks were all placing your hope in the Lord for someone like myself who is pretty much a stranger to you let me place my hope in him all the more readily. one moment i can think of was today when I was trying to arrive at our local college for the campus ministry mass. I was slated today to help serve and missed my exit on the highway, long story short I ended up in an unfamiliar part of town. I had no idea where i was and I was running late for mass. still even though I could’ve easily given into fear I think the Lord was testing me to remain calm and trust him. I managed to find a road that would get me back to where i needed to be. I managed to make it there with 5 minutes left to spare, just enough time to get my alb on and get going! Thanks Be to the Lord for that. thank you all as well for your prayers I hope you are all are are blessed as I was today.

has tried to place doubt in me and has been mocking me every step of the way.
You have no idea how much I can relate to this.

You have my prayers. I’ll think about you as I strive to get past my own doubts, and I’ll pray for you as I pray through mine.

Praying for you Gabriel.

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

I’ll be attending Eucharistic adoration tomorrow, I’ll be sure to add some time to pray for you as well. doubts and temptations though intense are fleeting. Peace is lasting, I sometimes need to remember that too. one time in adoration I was faced with doubts and struggles. I opened my bible and the first thing I read was the 84th psalm:

1 For the leader; “upon the gittith.” A psalm of the Korahites.2 How lovely your dwelling, O LORD of hosts!3 My soul yearns and pines for the courts of the LORD. My heart and flesh cry out for the living God.4 As the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest to settle her young, My home is by your altars, LORD of hosts, my king and my God!5 Happy are those who dwell in your house! They never cease to praise you. Selah6 Happy are those who find refuge in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrim roads.7 As they pass through the Baca valley, they find spring water to drink. Also from pools the Lord provides water for those who lose their way.8 They pass through outer and inner wall and see the God of gods on Zion.9 LORD of hosts, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob. Selah10 O God, look kindly on our shield; look upon the face of your anointed.11 Better one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. Better the threshold of the house of my God than a home in the tents of the wicked.12 For a sun and shield is the LORD God, bestowing all grace and glory. The LORD withholds no good thing from those who walk without reproach.13 O LORD of hosts, happy are those who trust in you!

It’s my hope that this passage I read might inspire you as well, jmeyer3131.:console:

actually an edit to that last note I accidentally overslept and would have to attend adoration later this week 😦 . My prayer still stands though.

Praying for St. Augustine and Our Lady’s intercession…

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I will pray for you Gabriel. May God keep your vocation safe. I was going to mention Saint Michael the Archangel as a sure fire way to get rid of temptations, but someone else beat me to it! LOL. Works for me! A former shop-a-holic!

Peace,

Gail

P.S. Draw close to our Blessed Mother, she is the mother of all vocations and she won’t let you down.

Brother Gabriel,
Peace be with you!
I am a new seminarian of the Catholic Church. I will lift you in my prayers! You will be a powerful instrument for God and the church. I encourage you to look into St. Padre Pio’s life. He too had a hard life with dark attacks from the Devil.

You are in my prayers! May God Bless you with his infinite blessings and our Blessed Mother Mary Cover you with her her loving grace to continue leading you to our Lord Jesus Christ!

Keep your chin up and In Jesus Name Cast out all Thoughts that are not of Jesus and pray that Our Lord wash your mind in his Holy Blood.
