Dear Rutz,
My prayers and thoughts are with your son and your family

I desperately need your help. I have a son - 20 years old - intelligent and beautiful - but my relationship with him is not the best one.
He has had trouble with drugs (marihuana, hashish) - he is bitter - he has not been able to finish any kind of education - he is without hope. I think I have fought for many years - but I have nearly given up.I really don´t know what to do and how to reach him.
I have tried with pscycologists etc. - without effect. Now and then despite of everything in a few moments he shows - despite of everything - that he cares for his family.
He feels that I love his brother more than him - maybe it really is so… his brother is so uncomplicated.
I was left by my husband many years go. Please take us into your prayers.

Praying for you and your son. I have gone through the same thing with my son- he is twenty also. I found the key to his opening up to love him much from my heart. I found that the Lord will hear my prayers from the heart and deal with my son. He has and my son is starting to open up and listen to me about the choices we make in life effect everyone especially those we love. Also we all do stupid things and the Lord sooner or later gets out the club and bomps us on the head to straighten out. Also have him checked for bi-polar disorder, this has alot of addictive behaviors attached to it and can cause ups and downs in their mood swings on top of the drugs. Praying the Holy Spirit to brings his peace, love and joy into this situation.

While his vision and heart are so clouded, remember that he is still near, and that many with similar problems, or worse ones, are far from family and even abandoned by them. Your path is very hard, but he still needs you, or would have vanished long ago. Many things he says, like his accusations about his brother, are also distortions of his conscience speaking. Keep boundaries, be patient, and pray. May the Blessed Mother strengthen you and guide him to healing, in Jesus’ name, Amen
