I ask you all to pray for Nicole 777, she was molested by her cousin at a young age and now he’s getting married. She wrote this here:

*There is a horrible situation going on in my family and I need some advice. It’s a long story but I’ll try to make it short and coherent.

I am 19, and since I was young, I’ve had a weird childhood memory of one of my cousins, let’s call him Ben, (who is 11 years older than me) threatening me and touching me in a sexual way . I won’t get into details but I remember crying and him only stopping when his sisters came in the room and saw what was going on. Now I was really young when that happened, but for some reason I still remember very clearly everything that happened.

All of my life I never talked about it to anyone, because I was wondering if it had really happened or if I had imagined it. As a child, I wouldn’t even think about it twice except a few nightmares, but when I became a teenager I started to understand what had happened to me. I never told anyone about it though.

However, recently I had been thinking more and more about it and having more nightmares, because this cousin is getting married this summer so his name would come back often in conversations at home. One day I got so upset that my mother asked me what was wrong, and I told her: " I remember what Ben did to me". Her face looked like this: She asked me what I remembered, and I told her everything. She told me that I was 4 when it happened (so Ben was 15), that her and my father were travelling so I stayed at my aunt’s house, and that when they came back I told them that Ben had “touched my parts” and that when they confronted him about it he denied it, but my aunt and my uncle apologized for him. I was really angry to learn that all that time my parents knew about this and they never tried to talk to me about it, that I had to deal with this alone.

On the next day I was thinking about this and I was crying, so my sister (2 years younger) asked me what was wrong. I had never told her because I didn’t want her to hate our cousin because of an old memory that I didn’t fully understand. Now that I knew that it was real, I told her what happened. There was a silence and then she told me that he had done the same thing to her at our house when she was 6 years old Only she had never told anyone about it because Ben made her promise not to and since she was a child and he was 19 she was scared I was completely devastated to learn that my sister had been dealing with the same thing all this time.

On that night we told our parents to come in the living room and my sister told them that it happened to her too. They just said: oh…really. I told them that I refused to go to Ben’s wedding, and they agreed. My sister isn’t going either.

Now I can’t stop thinking about this whole story, I really hate Ben. I know we are supposed to forgive, but this is so hard I had almost come to terms with what had happened to me, I was always friendly with Ben even though I disliked him. But now I know that
  1. he lied when I told my parents what happened, and said that I invented it (as if a 4 year old would invent something like this)
  2. 4 years later, as an adult, he did the same thing to my little sister
I am also really angry at my parents, for never telling me what happened, even though they had no idea whether I knew or not. Also, I can’t believe the fact that someone would do this to their daughter and not even admit it and they would keep inviting him at our house, to our birthday parties and all.

This summer he is getting married so we have family members coming from different countries, and it will be awkward when my sister and I won’t show up to the wedding. I also feel horrible for his fiancée, a wonderful girl that I get along with really well since they started dating 8 years ago. She probably has no idea about the things he did to his cousins. I don’t think I would have the courage to say something though, especially when they are getting married in less than a month.

I feel, angry, sad, humiliated and confused. I just don’t know what to do.*

She says she plans to tell his fiancée. Also, later she wrote “I’m just really scared of what would happen if I said something, especially with all the family coming for the wedding, it would be such a mess, especially since that side of my family seems to love keeping dirty little secrets . Also, I am scared that people will criticize me for saying this at the last minute, they might ask why I haven’t said this before, that I am trying to ruin everything or something like that.”

“…My parents seem to have a “get over it” attitude about the whole thing, which makes me even more angry and depressed. I think I am going to look for a good therapist myself.”

Pray for her, and also pray that her cousin will repent of his sins and go to confession.

I pray for the two of them. A life long diaster. God bless and help them. May they get some good counseling. :gopray2:

Lord, I pray that Nicole 777 and her sister will speak openly about what happened to them to people who can help them. They should even confront their perpetrator and ask him for an apology, so they can get some sort of closure and healing. May they forgive him (not the evil) and forgive their parents (not the lack of concern). They have to forgive the persons who hurt them in order to heal, Lord. Let them hate sins and not sinners. They’ll have to openly declare to their parents how angry they are over them inviting their cousin over after they knew what he had done. They’ll have to voice their anger to their parents and perpetrator before they can get over the pain they experience, I would imagine. Let them not fear to confront evil, Lord. Let them find closure and healing, I pray. Amen.

Lord Jesus, please grant Nicole 777 the courage to tell those who must know about this, especially her cousins fiancée, comfort her and her sister in their hour of need, and help them get any assistance they need. Also please help her cousin to repent of his sins and come back to you in the Sacrament of Confession. I ask this strengthened by the intercession of your mother, The Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Michael the Archangel, Saint Maria Goretti, and all the Angels and Saints in heaven. Amen.

Praying on the girls’ behalf

Grant me Your Spirit
Holy Spirit, I need wisdom, discernment and unconditional love. Will You share Yours with me? Help me to persevere in these necessary virtues, even where there is wounding within me greater than anyone is aware. Help me to carry my daily responsibilities with faith and hope.

Help me to forgive those who have sinned terribly against me or my loved ones. I need healing for injuries and scars that prevent me from fully becoming the person I am created to be. Come into my mind and soul, and help me through the rest of my life.

I need You, Holy Spirit. Please access the gifts and beauty of my unique creation in God’s image. For others’ benefit and for Your glory, give me a deep appreciation and use of the goodness, loveliness joy and blessing of this creation that You mean me to be. August 2004

Lord, please protect Nicole and her sister in these dangerous days. Please also inspire the authority figures that they rely upon to act wisely and do their jobs.

Dear Lord, I pray with all urgency that you open Nicole’s Mother’s heart so that she may see the damage she is doing to her daughters. If she has some sort of trauma of her own that is blocking the love and support she should be giving her daughters in their time of great need please bring it forward, to break through the wall she has put up.

Dear Lord please give Nicole and her sister the strength they need to wade through these troubled waters. Please bring forth a great support for them so they can fight off further damage and finally get to the point where they can focus on healing and ultimately forgiving. As you know Nicolle’s heart dear Lord, you know she is a child of God and started her thread because she wanted to know how to forgive this person who is still causing her pain. Please preserve her loving heart and that of her sister. Dear Lord, please protect them. In Jesus’ Name Amen

Dear Mary, Mother of God, please pray for Nicolle that she may feel your love, the love of a true and blessed Mother.

Jesus in this situation of sin against Your little ones, let goodness and healing prevail.
Please ensure that this man does no more harm to any other person.

Lord please grant healing to Nicole and her sister.
Please grant that their cousin is prevented from causing any more harm to others.

St Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God cast into hell satan and all the evil spirits
who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Nicole, be assured that there are people in this world that don’t have to know you in person, and still have true compassion, and sisterly/brotherly love for you. You and your sister will be in my daily prayers.

A Prayer for Healing- Victims of Abuse:

God of endless love, ever caring, ever strong,
always present, always just: You gave your only Son to save us by the blood of his Cross.

Gentle Jesus, Shepherd of peace,
join to your own suffering the pain of all who have been hurt in body, mind, and spirit by those who betrayed the trust placed in them.

Hear our cries as we agonize
over the harm done to our brothers and sisters. Breathe wisdom into our prayers, soothe restless hearts with hope, steady shaken spirits with faith: Show us the way to justice and wholeness, enlightened by truth and enfolded in your mercy.

Holy Spirit, Comforter of hearts,
heal your people’s wounds, and transform our brokenness.
Grant us courage and wisdom, humility and grace, so that we may act with justice and find peace in you.

We ask this through Christ, Our Lord. Amen
