Definitely off topic, so I won’t gum up the thread further. Suffice it to say, though, every time he addresses a post to me I’m going to flag it for harassment. That can be assumed rather than announced.

He’ll continue until he runs out of flags I’m sure. And still won’t have read what was said earlier in this thread.

Regardless of what either of you think. Either discuss civilly or do not discuss at all

Yes, I’ll make sure to respond civilly in future to insults such as being called a Marxist.

Well thankfully enough Catholics were not hoodwinked into voting for third party candidates or fall for the ‘seamless garment’ ideology that got us eight years of a pro abortion and anti Catholic administration.

The remark is personal, and it’s ad hominem.
I was only trying to be truthfully constructive. You don’t seem to have a problem attacking the personal sins of others? Wouldn’t that be hypocritical?
He is much more like Mussolini,
So now he’s dictator? Maybe you’ve been watching too much political spin.
you wish to vote for the utilitarian mercenary, and believe he won’t sell you and yours out the second it becomes more profitable to do so,
All you need to do is watch what Trump was saying back 25 years ago and he hasn’t change his tune, other than on abortion which he explains he had a change of heart on. he’s certainly made a lot of pro-life decisions since he became president.

Sure, the Church worked with Mussolini at first. They didn’t know what Mussolini would become. We have the benefit of hindsight. The Church at the time didn’t. But they quickly changed course when Mussolini went off the rails.
I think the church knew he was an avowed atheist and a very active political socialist. The church had made it’s own opposition to socialism quite clear, The writing was on the wall so to speak.

It is doctrine.

The Faithful must vote according to Catholic Social Teaching which the democratic party rejects.

The Republican Party are Catholic and Pro Life

oh, completely! It even says ‘Catholic’ in their party platform, mate!

No progress on gun reform, pro-death penalty, and against government assistance for those most in need!

Totally prolife!!! Absolutely, man! You’re right on target there!

The Death Penalty is fine with the Church and can lead to the salvation of sinners.

It is a sin to not encourage others to work for a living and welfare is socialism

I think the Libertarian Party is pro-abortion, the Green Party, too.

I mean the Libertarians are the most truly prochoice out there. They really dont care either way. they dont think government funding should go to planned parenthood or prolife clinics, which is better than the Dems, I guess.

Green party are just closet socialists, so they absolutely are.

Opinion on the death penalty? Moral Theology
"A sign of hope is the increasing recognition that the dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the case of someone who has done great evil. Modern society has the means of protecting itself, without definitively denying criminals the chance to reform. I renew the appeal I made most recently at Christmas for a consensus to end the death penalty, which is both cruel and unnecessary. “The nature and extent of the punishment must be carefully evaluated and decided upon, and ought no…

It’s funny. I’m sitting here watching the old “1984” movie.

This Communo-Nazi-esque film (based upon the book) came out just around the end of the Cold War. But some of the sociological themes aren’t so far removed from what we actually see today. The whole idea of an “inner party”; the idea of iterative languages; Big Brother and the “Thought Police”; the entire mechanized feel of the government being anything but human and unopposable - it resembles a lot of what we see today, and little of what we believe as Christians.

See if you agree…

1 - In Christianity, we have a God-given, non-iterative, eternal and immutable essentially “dead language” inscribed on our hearts - whether it be in Greek, Hebrew or Latin. But in today’s Social Networks - how many new mechanized computer languages, programs, versions of algorithms, and so on - maintain the spotlight?

2 - Thought Police? How popular it used to be (and still is to some extent) in social media to accuse someone of being a “hater”, simply because they disagreed with a new social norm, even if it was only sinful some ploy for attention? I’m not justifying hatred. God is Love. We want Love. What I am disagreeing with is - if love becomes perverted, and someone speaks out against the perversion, then it is not uncommon for the instigator to defend themselves by calling others a hater. Hence, the Thought Police are called onto the scene…

3 - “The Inner Party” - Who do they mean? Google and Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon? Any and/or all of the above? The modern Panzer could just as easily be made of silicon and dollars.

4 - Opposition? Giving up your vote? There are enough sharks swimming in our socio-political waters to devour any poor soul like a raging lion would a lamb.

Jesus was the greatest disruptor of them all.

It was only through carrying the cross that He brought forth salvation.

Sometimes we must voice our thoughts, and other times remain silent.

But - whatever you decide - pray always, for no one has power over you unless it is granted from above.

I bet I can squeeze a comment in before it closes again.
