Pray for people that desire greed without knowing

Dear Father,

I pray for all that desire greed without knowing it. I ask that you touch their hearts through the Holy Spirit, so they can have faith and trust in and to serve you with praise and thanksgiving. Have mercy on them.
Grant this Oh Lord, through Jesus Christ our Lord, only begotten Son of God who reigns with you for ever and ever. Amen.
 
Lord bless us all with gratitude for the blessings in our lives.
 
I am not clear what this prayer request actually means…How can anyone “unknowingly desire greed”?

Or does it really just refer to greedy people…? As it stands, it doesn’t make sense.

A few of my friends have said that their desire is to be rich and not just be content with what they already have. They say that they aren’t greedy, but to me they are desiring greed without knowing it. I hope I’ve made it clear to you.

Please pray for them to realize that ther desire is wrong and to be content with what they already have. Thank you.

Maybe the primary problem is the vagueness of the desire. Do your friends want a high income, or a lump sum of assets? Either way, what would they do with the income or the assets?

In times and places where there is a high rate of inflation, people aren’t content with the money they already have because it is continually losing value. They recognize that – even if they could accumulate a substantial amount of money – their desire is for the value they can get from the money, rather than for the money itself.

If you rent a room in the basement of a house, and share the washroom and kitchen with other people, then should you be content with what you already have? Many people want privacy, relationships, marriage, children, their own home, etc. They aren’t content with what they already have. If all people were content with what they already have, then there would be renovation, but no new construction: no new bridges, buildings, seaports, etc.

give perfection to beginners,
understanding to the little ones,
and help to those who are running their course.

The prayers are for people that should be grateful for what they already have, and not to think money. Is more important than God. I’m praying that these people should count their blessings on which they actually have instead of desiring more money (which most of them would want to keep for themselves), loving money more than God.

That’s what I’m praying for.
 
Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
