I need some prayer advice. I’m in a situation at a Catholic University that I won’t reveal too many details about. The situation is as thus:
  1. I’m at a Catholic University and the educational program I’m in has become very secular (and in some cases antagonistic toward the Church).
  2. This situation appears to be isolated to this one program.
  3. I’m the only Catholic student in this Graduate program. The rest of the graduate students are from varied non-Catholic backgrounds. Most of the Undergraduates are Catholic, but I don’t have much contact with them. Undergraduates and graduates don’t socialize much on campus (not sure why… it could be because of the age difference. Most grad students in this program are 40 and up).
  4. There is a need for prayer for this program, but I don’t know how to ask for help without having spiritual backup.
  5. I recognize I’ve been under spiritual attack since I entered the program. Nothing recognizably paranormal… but it’s been a mixed bag of other things (including some temptations designed to upset me).
  6. I’m not sure who I could trust on campus or go to outside campus concerning this situation. I certainly need to talk to someone, but my time is constantly being occupied with the obligations I have to maintaining my scholarship. Every time I think I have time, something always seems to come up to either prevent me from going to Church, Adoration Chapel, or just getting my work done to meet my educational obligations.
  7. I don’t want to jeopardize my degree by causing a ruckus or a scandal, and I’m not sure if anyone (including clergy on campus) are aware of this situation.
  8. I’m frustrated and scared guys! I want the work I’m doing to give glory to God. I’ve made no secret about that to those around me.
How should I go about asking for help? I can always go to my priest for help for myself, but the problems here are beyond just me.

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need. Praying to St. Michael the Archangel to watch over & protect you.

Also praying for you to get the help of the Holy Spirit as well.

Have you considered getting a Spiritual Director to help you with some of this?

Talk to your priest.

And maybe sprinkle everyone with holy water at the beginning of each class 😃

You are probably just kidding, but I have been sprinkling holy water in my work space when no one has been around to see me. I’ve got s small crucifix (which hasn’t been noticed yet) and a picture of Jesus and Mary on the wall. I had a picture of Pope Francis and Pius IX along with Aodh_Mór_Uî_Néill (the founder of the AOH). I was asked to remove them from my wall.

Yes, I’m going to find out who I can speak to from the Campus Ministry. I may need to go talk to a priest off campus.

Thank you all for your prayers and advice.

Sonic, I was partly kidding. I, too, use holy water and other sacramentals. How sad that you were asked to remove them.

Update on my situation:

Today I experienced a horrible verbal attack from the artist in residence here. I was asked to paint a wall and used a different primer then is normally used. This resulted in the most shocking outburst of verbal abuse I’d ever heard come from a human being. I did nothing wrong, and the wall certainly can be repainted. It certainly didn’t warrant me being yelled at in public with such awful language. I have never been called an idiot in front of anyone before! I was so stunned that I couldn’t even speak. The only thing I could say was I’m sorry and hang my head.

This follows me being successful in asking for help from fellow Catholics on campus. The administration has been so very helpful to my situation and are moving me away from this. I won’t have to deal with these people again. That is a consolation, but I’ve been physically ill all day.

Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for me! Jesus Christ protect me!
