Prayer after communion

I’m just curious as to what you pray after receiving communion? Do you have certain prayers you say (formulated, or ones you made up)? Thanks
 
The Mass is a memorial of the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ. When we receive the Eucharist we only have a short time with Christ before he is no longer with us. It was only after Christ ascended into heaven that the Holy Spirit came into the world. So if Christ is “ascending” so to speak shortly after we receive communion, we should be asking for the Holy Spirit to be sent down upon us and make us better disciples of Christ just like the apostles. Men who were afraid during Christ’s passion and death, but after the resurrection and descent of the Holy Spirit, were willing to give up their lives. With that being said, I like to pray a big thank you to Christ and then ask that the Holy Spirit will come to me.

I usually just say something along the lines of giving it all to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Plus a thank you for making me just a wee bit better
 
I usually say the Anime Christi, then add my own heart felt thanks. Sometimes I pray St. John Neuman’s prayer

Shine Through Me
Dear Jesus, help me to spread Your Fragrance everywhere I go. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Yours. Shine through me and be so in me, that every soul I come in contact with may feel Your Presence in my soul: let them look up and see no longer me–but only Jesus.

There is more to this prayer, but I can’t find it right now. It’s in my Pieta Prayer book.

St. Faustina said that the Eucharist remains in us until we receive again, and the Church teaches that it remains until the accidents have passed through our bodies.

Sometimes I just ponder how wonderful this gift is, and how closely it unites us.

Thank you for posting this, Maria Veronica. I had it in the back of my Daily Missal and used to pray it after Mass. My missal was left in Church and I never got it back and the prayer, of course, went with it. I now have it again. Thank you!..Blessings - Barb
 
I improvise, but always thank each Person of the Holy Trinity separately for the great privilege of receiving them in the veil of mystery that is the Holy Eucharist.
 
I also recite the Prayer To Archangel Michael after the mass is over.
