Prayer against fear

I’ve been informed that I must have my blood drawn in the near future. My doctor was very kind in giving me a year at most, a few months preferably, to do so… and having my blood drawn is a huge phobia of mine for some reason 😦 .

Some of the more visceral Catholic images like the Sacred Heart have actually helped me not be so fearful of medical things, but I’d appreciate your prayers and suggestions for devotions in the meantime…

I will remember your intentions in my prayers today.

May the Lord give you comfort and courage as you face your phobia. Perhaps you might consider offering up the distress having blood drawn will cause you to be united with Our Lord’s saving Passion for the conversion of sinners?
 
I would be terrified of having my blood drawn as well. You have my sympathy.
 
May God alleviate you fear of having you blood drawn, sooner rather than later.
You’re not alone. I was a phlebotomist at one point.

I used to completly pass out when I had blood drawn. I had to be laying down(maybe this could help you) Jusr reqwuest that. Most will allow this, esp if you tell them why. Starting with my teens until I was around 40 and I had my first stay in the hospital where I had frequent blood draws. I think that cured me. I now have to have blood test at least once a month and I simply can go in and have my blood drawn with no second thoughts. So you will get over it. Until then ask to be laying down and tell them why. Don’t be too proud.
 
I am very phobic about going to the dentist. I recite aspirations such as: “Mother of God, pray for me” or “Holy Jesus, help me.” (I had a major anxiety attack the last time I had work done. And I’m scheduled for more next week.)

Anyway, I would go for any aspiration that helps you feel close to the Lord. I have included a few suggestions. You by no means have have to do all of them. And maybe none of them will work for you. But it’s a good place to start.
