So I’m about to tell my father at long last that I’ve become Catholic. I would’ve told him sooner, but I’m only just now allowed to make my own decisions in the family regarding churches, I didn’t tell him before so as not to cause long-winded scandal and tensions.

Anyway, this post is a shot in the dark, a Hail Mary (double meaning phrase here on CAF, which I love): please pray for me, firstly, and share whatever advice you might have!!

Praying for your intentions and little tension.

Not much for giving advice,but let him know this brings you closer to God.

Praying for your intentions. Does your father love you?

Philippians 4:6-7 : Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus

My advice
Before telling him the news that, “you’ve become Catholic” reiterate your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, your love for God, and your desire for God’s will for your life.
God be with you brother. 🙏 ❤️
 
I can relate. Even though I converted later in life, I still was anxious about telling my Dad as he has a big problem with Catholics. I just asked The Holy Trinity to be with me when I told him.

Offering up prayers that The Holy Trinity be with you when you tell your dad.

Thanks all! I told him without much fanfare, but I thought he’d get irate. It may’ve helped that he was tired, it was kind of late.
