A little background information…my mother would often pray to St. Anthony whenever someone in the family was in need of something. She prayed the rosary almost every day and regularly attended church but she had a special love for St Anthony. When I lost my job last year she told me was praying to St Anthony for his help and that I shouldn’t worry. She sent me prayer cards in the mail and reminded me whenever we talked on the phone that St Anthony was pleading my case to God for me.
My mother passed away in August. Last month, out of the blue, a job in my career field suddenly opened up. The interview process was quick and I was offered a position with a great salary and benefits. If I could design a job from scratch I don’t think I could do a better than the job I was offered. It’s as if divine intervention was at work here. Actually, I know it was divine intervention. Her prayers were answered.
Here’s my question. My mother always promised St. Anthony that she would make a donation when her prayers were answered. I would like to keep my mother’s promise by making the donation for her. I just don’t know where to send the money. I looked up St Anthony on the internet…there are lots of places where I could send a check…just not sure what I should do. I was thinking of perhaps making a donation to a local charity that my Knights of Columbus council supports but my wife doesn’t think that would be right. My mother promised the money to St. Anthony…it should go to him.
What should I do?
