What are some traditional Catholic prayers before bed?

The prayers written by Saint Louis Marie de Montfort are excellent, indeed. I use them. They have a heavy devotion to Mary, but include other prayers such as the Magnificat, the Confiteor, and the Litany of Loreto. It is a bit long, granted. Another is associated with a cloistered nun who, upon death, ahd appeared before her superioress while she was praying for the repose of her soul, and made her aware that by saying the following prayer, she “went straight to Heaven”.

This is the prayer:

Eternal Father, I offer thee the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with all Its Love, all Its Sufferings and all Its Merits:

To EXPIATE all the sins I have committed this day, and during all my life. Glory be to the Father, etc.

To PURIFY the good I have done in my poor way this day, and during all my life. Glory be to the Father, etc.

To MAKE UP for the good I ought to have done, and that I have neglected this day and during all my life. Glory be to Father, etc.

This is followed by a recitation of an Act of Contrition. It is short, but it should do.

A wise Christian should also pray fervently for a pure heat and the grace of a happy death, the latter especially.

For a pure heart, I usually say:

By thine Immaculate Conception, O Mary, make my body pure, and my soul holy

Thrice followed each time by a hail mary.

For the prayer for a happy death, I simply beseech Jesus, Mary, and Joseph in a quick prayer.

And To end it all, a prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel to defend me from the torments of the Devil while I sleep.

As well as the others mentioned three Hail Marys for holy purity. Keeping in mind that prayers someone else has written are the entry point to our prayer life; we don’t want to stop there. Prayer is the raising of our minds and hearts to God. Say a couple of written prayers and then talk to God about your day, ask Him for what you need spiritually and then be silent for His reply.

Fr Thomas’ Dubay’s book *The Prayer Primer *is a great place to start if you want to deepen your prayer life. Next, his Deep Conversion, Deep Prayer. They are written for a non specialist reader.

Thank you guys very much you answered my question perfectly I’m definitely going to take your advice and use it. I really like that prayer btw and im going to use it and yinekka thanks for the advice about talking to God about my day thats a good idea Im going to start that too

Also, the Rosary is a fine tool as well. A Decade a night makes the Devil take flight!

Yes thats another thing I was thinking as well. However I am still memorizing the whole thing. My goal is to have it down by the end of the week. I am going to the field for the week so I am going to have a lot of down time.
