Hi, I am new to using a forum and I am not sure what the process is. I hope someone will be able to help me with a topic I was asked about and that is Prayer Attitude. I understand it is the environment or feelings you bring to prayer, but a reference was made to the style we bring. Can someone explain? Also it was referred to as the umbrella to prayer?

Thank you for your help

You know, it sounds like what you’re talking about is something specific to the writer. Particularly the “umbrella” part.

I’m not really sure what your question is asking because I don’t know what you’re referencing.

However, maybe you’d like to reframe your question? 🙂 For example, “what is the appropriate attitude we should bring to prayer? How do we show this attitude? What does our prayer style say about our attitude?”

Questions like that might give us something to work with. 🙂

I apologize that I was not specific, my goal is to find some information on what Prayer Attitude is because I am not clear and I would like to share it with the person who has asked. Is it a general term meaning what we bring to prayer, ie humility, anger, or other feeling or it more specific.
The statements below were given to me but they are vague.
  • Attitude is the enviornment or feelings you bring to prayer…how do you pray or what style do you bring? (By style I am assuming they mean Ignatian, Augustinan, Franciscian, or Thomistic because my friend has referred to prayer temperment before.)
-Posture of prayer may be important, so is age, experiences, and Catholic vs Non-catholic. (Posture - what a person feels comfortable with sitting, standing, or kneeling; age - simplicity of a child vs the complications adults can bring to prayer??)

-Attitude may need to be first. Attitude is the umbrella. Something much larger than Adoration (This I have no idea??)

So from what I was given, I cannot be real specific, other than what is your take on prayer attitude and how might it encompass the above statements. Once again I apologize.
