“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and purify my intentions that I may seek only to serve Thee more worthily.”
This is beautiful!
Ive never heard/read it - but Im gonna try and store it in my memory bank.

I usually use this time to gather my intentions for what Im offereing my Mass up for.

Hello, all-

I’m new to this forum, as well as new to the Catholic Church. Here’s my question:

At just about all of the masses I’ve attended, I’ve noticed that most people kneel when they first get into their pew and say a prayer. Is this a specific prayer to be said before mass? Or is this a personal thing?

I’m looking to enhance my prayer life, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I find that centering prayer works best for me once I enter the sanctuary from the outside world. I call God to me. Well, He’s there, isn’t he, but I am really focusing myself on him. Many times, I will simply pray “Speak O Lord, your servant is listening.” And I listen. And I focus on His presence and long for it to continue. Before mass and in adoration, I find myself seeking to listen to God in prayer rather than to speak. I am always talking to him all day long 😃 , but when I get to the church, I really want to hear Him! 🙂

It sounds like you hunger for more prayer time with the Lord, and before Mass is definitely a beautiful time to be calling on Him. May Christ’s peace be with you as you journey into a deeper prayer life!

In Peace,
DS
