Prayer during free time

Hi All

During my office timings, after i finish all my work, i get so much of free time. And I always think how i can best utilize that for my prayer time. Can anyone share, how, many of them utilize that time. Because iam just thinking what i can pray during that time. And i dnt get any ideas.

Hi Anu!

You know, I hadn’t really thought about this at all until you posted it, but at my job, usually the last 45 minutes or so before I go home, all the work is done and there is usually nothing left to do. Your post has inspired me to use this time for prayer! 👍

As far as which prayers to say, I’m not really sure, personally I may try to get a few extra decades of the Rosary said. Great idea Anu! Again, thanks for posting this!!

What does Extra decades mean. Sorry Iam a non-christain, so dnt know much. I usually do a rosary, with 5 decades. Does Extra decades indicate praying another mystery.

No problem! 🙂 To say another decade or even a few extra decades of Rosary can be saying (some of, or all) the decades again of the mystery you had already said. or contemplating a different set of mysteries. (For example, today I will say the Joyful mysteries like I usually do in the morning, but this afternoon at work I may either say the same mystery again or choose to say the Sorrowful, Luminous or Glorious). From what I have read, it doesn’t matter which one is said, some people have personal preferance.

I prayed the Rosary the other night when I woke up in the middle of the night. I did it until I fell back asleep and I had a very restful sleep for the rest of the night. I sometimes get insomnia and this is going to be my new method of dealing with it.
 
Depending on the time of the day, you could pray the Office.

Rosary. 2 Rosaries. 3 Rosaries…etc.

Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Angelus.

St. Michael Chaplet.

Some other chaplet you have an affection for.

Just take some quiet time and meditate.

Perhaps take a book and spend some of your time devoted to spiritual reading or the reading of Scripture.

I think it is great your going to use this time for prayer. What a good use of time! God bless you!

I use to do the all the Liturgy of the Hours, for the day. I even had my computer notify me when the proper time came. I would go to a web site that posted the entire day, little hours and major hours.
