I had a friend pass away a few days ago, and while praying the Rosary I had a hard time concentrating on the mysteries as all my thoughts were on my friend. Does this happen to others?

I don’t think there is anyone who has prayed a Rosary who has not had a hard time concentrating at some point. This is normal.I had a friend pass away a few days ago, and while praying the Rosary I had a hard time concentrating on the mysteries as all my thoughts were on my friend. Does this happen to others?

When something big happens that emotionally takes over, all one can do is offer that up with some short prayers such as “Jesus I trust in You”. It is understandable that it would be difficult to meditate and pray the Rosary when something severe happens.I had a friend pass away a few days ago, and while praying the Rosary I had a hard time concentrating on the mysteries as all my thoughts were on my friend. Does this happen to others?

Thinking of that person while trying to pray is still praying.

I usually try to pray the Rosary, when in church or I take a walk,or when all are sleeping in my home, so I can concentrate ,on each Mystery of the Rosary, but once an awhile I got catch my self, and say,it, when ,when I,am on that Mystery. AMEN

I am sorry to hear of your loss. I pray for you, the bereaved and his or her family.
I generally don’t pray the Rosary for various reasons. But I am a great devotee of the Liturgy of the Hours.
When someone close to me passes away, I will pray the Office of the Dead in the Liturgy of the Hours. I typically chant the Office every day and I find that helps me focus better.
If you prefer the Rosary to the LOTH, perhaps a sung or chanted Rosary would achieve the same result, in keeping better focus.
That said as others have noted I don’t think there’s anybody who ever prayed the Rosary that doesn’t experience mind drift to a greater or lesser extent, and it’s nothing to beat yourself up with. God understands both our intention, and how frail we are as human beings.
