Prayer for a friend...

Her name is Sam. We dated for about a year, and broke up about a week ago.

She is a lapsed Catholic - she hasn’t been to confession since her First Communion over 12 years ago, and has fallen in with the wrong crowd. She has picked up destructive tendencies, and has grown apathetic to any sense of Truth or moral certitude, and her behavior is breaking my heart; it’s because of this, and infidelity, that we had to part ways.

Please, keep her in your prayers. Pray that she might be brought back to the fullness of truth that is the Church; and pray that God grants her the strength to overcome all apathy.

And pray for me, if you could. I really put a lot of my heart in to this relationship, and I’m clinging to God with all my might to get through this… but I need some help.
 
Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant to us that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for us, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear our pleas
for Sam, for increase of faith for us. Amen.

Father, we ask you to open the eyes and heart of Sam.
Grant her the ability to see the wonderful
things that you have done for her. Guide her
back into the fullness of your church.
We ask this in the name of Jesus!
