Here is the update regarding my job. I’m just copy and pasting from the other thread where I accidentally posted it instead of here. Don’t guess it matters, but forgive the length and rambling text. Guess I was a little irritated while typing it out… :o

my longest post ever, sorry…
The job I accepted - is gone. Going in, I knew it would be difficult as the owner was… I will simply say he has many issues and can understand why his business is in the shape it is and having difficulties aside from the economy. I went in agreeing to these terms like an idiot due to my situation. I have done many things in the past. I’ve been in sales, client retention and resolution, management, owned two businesses, been a director of development for a multi million dollar company, was quite ill two years and started over in very high end jewelry and completed GIA diamonds, etc, went through many difficult changes after seven years of this and went into finance and banking. Here I am starting over ----AGAIN… However, I have no assistance, savings depleted, etc. It’s difficult. I passed humiliated long ago. If I don’t find something I will lose everything very, very soon.

I wasted very precious time looking for a job interviewing and dealing with this insulting, unprofessional, unethical, cerebrally and emotionally self stunted man. In all my experience of interviewing and working I have never seen anything akin to this experience. First interview- was there 3 hours.

Questions asked- are you married, do you have children, where do you live, are you divorced, etc. ( this is against the law to ask if you are not aware) I told him I would generally not answer such questions, but coming from the perspective of a past business owner I believed to understand why he asked and complied with answers.)When asked about my time gap- I replied I had been sick for about a year and a half and took a little extra time off as I had the means. His response - oh, no- I don’t want any sick people or anyone with anything wrong with them( again, not legal - but I simply assured him of my health being much better.) Oh, and the compassionate soul suffers from his own medical issues.

Multiple times he commented how beautiful he thought I was … Insulting, unprofessional, uncomfortable, etc. then said he liked to hire someone like this and no one wants an overweight or too skinny, sickly looking person to represent their business… This is soooooooooo wrong and insulting as well as depressing that times are so tough and you need a job and will put up with things that would normally get a guy slapped - fast! It’s wrong. I’m trying to be careful how I use my words as I have many…

So, he calls the following day and asks me to return and meet the other employees (all 1.5of them) etc.another 3 hours and another interview. Ridiculous. We discussed, pay etc. he informed me if he offered the job and I accepted - there is no leaving the business/store once you arrive for work, he takes the (2) 15 minute breaks the law requires and puts them together for your lunch, but you are paid. Then says it’s ridiculous how employees have been bringing in microwave meal and taking 20 min to heat and eat and how they would spend 2-4 minutes in the bathroom, a no no… No back door to exit- locked, bolted coded. I could go on and on. There are so many things going on there the dept of labor or whatever it is could shut him down quickly re these as welll as a litany of others. He then told me several more times how beautiful I was on the inside and out and how “special and unique” that is -this would freak me out even on a first date and this an interview! Wow, the economy is bad. I NEVER flirted, accepted any advances or dressed nor behaved in a manner that would solicit this from any sane person. I was there to work. Period. Met and exceeded all criteria, etc. I could tell he also has a temper and knowing ALL this I accepted the job when he phoned the following day.

Went into work for as scheduled Monday 1:30-6:15, arrived early, was told in front if the other female employee not to expect any special treatment just because you’re pretty" I about passed out. 1) I don’t see myself this way, 2) it’s unprofessional and insulting and embarrassing as well as the other lady seemed pretty annoyed with me that he said this… 3) I have the work experience in much better companies than his as well have certified credentials from the most prestigious gemological school that there is anywhere not to mention the rest of my experience and this “person” is having me jump through hoops. The other 1.5 employees - none of this. Received a phone call the following morning that he didn’t know if it was a good fit and the other woman who complained about him all day took something I said out of context and basically through me under the bus. He said if I wanted to give it a try to let him know or come in. I was flabbergasted. I went in only to be let go, but told that he wanted to hold on to my app for some time if that was okay. Naturally, this was another hour conversation with uncomfortable remarks re appearance, etc and how well qualified I am.! Scream! I asked for some constructive criticism so I could better myself re my next employment- I asked what exactly did I not do properly and what could I do in order to improve ( I had a reason for asking this stupid question) reply- oh, absolutely nothing. Everything you did was perfect and your credentials, etc are great. " I think you are great, etc"

So, please pray. I’m upset and irritated and not only lost the time I spent there - I wasted the week being at a complete loss. I was in process applying for a part time youth minister at a local parish and received my letter of recommendation and past involvement from my prior church to add with my resume on the afternoon of my 2nd interview and accepted the job. I didn’t submit for the youth minister as it was few hours, but too many to work with the new job. The deadline was the day before my 1st day at “new job” and day after I was let go…
