**O Lord Jesus Christ, great High Priest, I pray that You call many worthy souls to Your holy priesthood.
** ** Enlighten the Bishop in the choice of candidates, the Spiritual Director in molding them, and the professors in instructing them.
** ** Lead the seminarians daily in Your unerring footsteps; so that they may become priests who are models of purity, possessors of wisdom and heroes of sacrifice;
** ** steeped in humility and aflame with love for God and man; apostles of Your glory and sanctifiers of souls.
** ** Amen.

" Come and follow Me."

Grant to young men and women the grace of responding promptly to Your voice. Sustain our Bishops, priests and consecrated souls in their apostolic work. Give perseverance to our seminarians and to all who are fulfilling the ideal of a life of total consecration to Your service. Enkindle in our communities a missionary zeal. Send, Lord, workers into Your fields and do not let mankind be lost because of a lack of pastors, missionaries, and people dedicated to the cause of the Gospel. Mary, Mother of the Church, model of vocations, help us say “yes” to the Lord who calls us to collaborate in the divine design of salvation. Amen. †

We praise you, merciful Father, for sending your Son into the world to free us from sin, and enrich us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. To continue his mission he sent his apostles, the bearers of his love, to proclaim the Gospel to all peoples and offer believers new life through Baptism and the Eucharist.

Look kindly, Lord, on the men who train for the priesthood, especially in the mission churches. Inspire them with perseverance and courage so that they may reach their goal of ordination and continue the work of the apostles in today’s world.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Prayer for Seminarians

Lord Jesus Christ, Eternal High Priest and Chief Shepherd of the flock, send us, according to your promise, pastors after your own heart. You formed your apostles by calling them to your side and inviting them to share your life. In your company at prayer and at the banquet of the Eucharist, mould our seminarians into your likeness, that they may grow daily in holiness, virtue and fidelity for they can only become apostles if they have first been disciples learning at the foot of the Master.

Ever increase in them a sincere and ardent desire to serve you and your people. Give them generosity and perseverance in their studies so they may gain wisdom and competence in guiding souls and building communities. Assist them in their struggles so they may learn to bear their Cross with patience and develop strength of character. Animate their passion in doing the apostolate so that in this school of service and love, they may imbibe a genuine solidarity and concern for the needy and learn to imitate your simplicity of life and humble service.

Make our seminaries true cradles of virtue and learning, where the seeds of priestly vocation can grow and blossom. Bless all formators, teachers, seminary workers, benefactors, the families and friends of seminarians, and all who collaborate in this most important task of forming our future shepherds. May your Holy Spirit, the best formator, always inspire and direct our efforts for your greater glory. Amen.

Mary, Mother of Vocations, pray for us.
Saint Joseph, pray for us.
Saint John Vianney, pray for us.
 
Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

**Oh dear Sacred Heart of Jesus,
I give You my whole heart.
I see Your Heart on fire for love of me.
I want to be in this fiery furnace
and know the love of God.
Take me, Jesus.
Use me as Your little servant
to spread Your love to this world.
I give myself entirely to You
and I ask the Holy Spirit
to make me more like You.
I want to be a little child of the Father.
I give You my heart,
keep me in Your Heart
and teach me Your way of love.

Lord Jesus Christ, Shepherd of souls, who called the apostles to be fishers of men, raise up new apostles in your holy Church. Teach them that to serve you is to reign: to possess you is to possess all things. Kindle in the hearts of our people the fire of zeal for souls. Make them eager to spread your Kingdom upon earth. Grant them courage to follow you, who are the Way, the Truth, and the Life; who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
 
Lord Jesus, I ask your special blessing on all young men
preparing for the priesthood in our seminary. I pray that they
will grow in faith, hope and charity. May their hearts overflow
with your compassion, understanding, and generosity, and may
their desire to serve you inspire others to answer your call.
Lord, give our seminarians the grace to follow you more
perfectly. When they are lonely or discouraged, fill them with
your peace. Jesus meek and humble of heart, make the hearts
of our seminarians like yours. Amen.
 
Eternal Father, we humbly offer Thee our poor presence, and that of the whole of humanity, from the beginning to the end of the world at all the Masses that ever have or ever will be prayed. We offer Thee all the pains, sufferings, prayers, sacrifices, joys, and relaxations of our lives, in union with those of our Lord Jesus here on earth. May the Most Precious Blood of Christ, all His Blood, Wounds, and Agony save us, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. Amen.

A Prayer for Priestly Vocations

O Lord, my God,
You renew the Church in every age
by raising up priests outstanding in holiness,
living witnesses of Your unchanging Love.
In Your Plan for our salvation
You provide shepherds for Your people.

Fill the hearts of young men
with the spirit of courage and love
that they may answer Your call generously.
Give parents the grace to encourage vocations
in their family by prayer and good example.

Raise up worthy priests for Your Altars
and ardent, but gentle servants of the Gospel.
Give the Church more priests
and keep them faithful in their love and service.
May many young men choose to serve You
by devoting themselves to the service of Your people.

We ask that you inspire all teachers of our seminarians and the seminarians themselves
So that they may follow Your teachings closely and grow in love for both God and neighbour.
We truly need good shepherds to lead us in this world filled with sin and strife.
Please grant us the leaders we need. Guide their instructors and bishops. Protect all seminarians from error and immorality now and in their priestly lives.
For those who find themselves shunned by their superiors due to their fealty to your Church and her teachings,
Give them strength!
Give us all a great love for your Church.
This we pray through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.
