I have been sitting here praying my rosary, but my mind is so full that I need to write and ask for prayer. I suppose you could say the problem I have with my daughter is manifold. She is 18 and has admitted to me that she is lesbian. In the first place she has very deep problems emotionally, and quit high school. She was taking college courses this past year, and told me last night at about 3 am that she is no longer “motivated to finish college because it doesn’t fit in with her plans”
She takes ADD medication and prozac, and is very reclusive, so she has never had a close friend with whom she hangs out with. She spends most of her time on the computer. No matter how much I tried all these years, she has been very stubborn about playing World of Warcraft. She has been talking to someone online and on her cell phone that CLAIMS to be 17 years old and from Canada (we live in Texas). she wants to get a job, save up and go to this person. I warn her it might be a lie, but she insists it is true. I told her that it is flakey for her to pick up and go across country—how come that other person doesn’t want to give up THEIR country, or THEIR family for YOU??, I tell her, but she doesn’t trust what I am telling her…she feels I am just treating her like a child.
I want prayers from anyone. I named her Celine Therese for St Therese the Little Flower, and her sister Celine…I am so desparate I wish that St Therese would answer my prayer that she trusts her FAther and I. My husband is very sad about this too.

I am sorry you are going through this. I have heard that WOW can cause problems in people who get too obsessed with it. It seems to be one of the most addictive games because of the character creation. If there is any way to get her off the computer, it would be good, but it’s not easy. Could you cut down the time on the internet, like turn it off at night, for example? Her cell phone, if it is yours, should also be restricted. Tell the doctor who is giving her Prozac that she is addicted to WOW and see what he advises. Tell that doctor your concerns about your daughter being reclusive and also vulnerable to internet predators.

Unfortunately, she is 18 and could simply leave your house.

I will add you to my prayers.

Thank you for any and all prayers. thank you for your advice, and God bless you:)

I am so sorry that you are going through this and I will keep your family in my prayers. Your daughter may benefit from some time away from her computer and whatever influences are coming worth the sites she visits and the people she speaks to. An extended vacation or perhaps a retreat may be very helpful. Have you looked into some Catholic counselors? They may be able to find out what is causing your daughter to act the way she does.
