The deacon at my parish who has lead our RCIA program for the last 10 years passed away early this morning. He was diagnosed with leukemia 2 weeks ago and went in to have a port-a-cath inserted for his chemo last Wed. On Holy Thursday, the day after his procedure, he suffered a heart attack and it was determined he needed to have heart surgery. His surgery was performed yesterday and went well, however several hours later he was having serious blood pressure issues and they took him back to surgery concerned he was bleeding. Around 1:00 AM central time he passed away.
Please pray for his wife and children. He was a wonderful husband, father and deacon. He was greatly respected in our parish.
I am currently part of what will be his last class of RCIA “graduates” we are suppose to meet tonight for our first mystagagia session, and I know it will be full of tears and prayers.
