I definitely want to improve my relationship with Christ by letting go of earthly attachments (or things associated with earthly things, such as my obsession for the cleanliness maintaining my personal belongings).

My question is, are there any prayers that you know that concerns with the letting go of earthly emotions/things?

Blessed Peter Faber Prayer for Detachment

I beg of you, my Lord
to remove anything which separates
me from you, and you from me.

Remove anything that makes me unworthy
of your sight, your control, your reprehension;
of your speech and conversation,
of your benevolence and love.

Cast from me every evil
that stands in the way of my seeing you,
hearing, tasting, savoring, and touching you;
fearing and being mindful of you;
knowing, trusting, loving, and possessing you;
being conscious of your presence
and, as far as may be, enjoying you.

This is what I ask for myself
and earnestly desire from you. Amen

You could join the Brothers and Sisters of Penance, based on the 1221AD rule of St.
Francis.

Or you could join the Confraternity of Penitents (Also Franciscan)( Handbook on Amazon.)

OK, I am going now to watch the Mass for our two Popes to be canonized.:):):):):extrahappy: Rather the vigil celebration on EWTN.

Thank you, this is just what I needed. Praise be to God.
