I wanted to ask for prayer that I might find a consistent means of earning an income. Even though I’m a freelance artist, I go crazy without a normal job that provides a stable income. I also wanted to pray for a spiritual issue related to this.

Sometimes when I pray to St Joseph, I feel like He is communicating with me. Not vocally or anything, but through impressions. I don’t know if this is really St. Joseph, but it is very strange and I don’t know how to discern it. I wanted to ask for prayer that I would be delivered from superstition and false impressions that are part of my scrupulosity and ocd, because they make me afraid of trusting God for fear that I’ll be taken on a roller coaster ride.

Joseph was a carpenter/woodworker-artist in his own right…so why wouldn’t he inspire you and send you some impression or good ideas? As all comes from God through His workers in many quite and non spectacular ways, I think we don’t ask Joseph or acknowledge him enough. Continue to ask Him to help fill your needs and don’t forget to thank him. I pray that you find the work you are looking for.
 
Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may god rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

O Saint Joseph, we pray to you for those who are out of work, for those who want to earn their living or support their families.

You who are the patron of workers; grant that unemployment may vanish from our ranks; that all those who are ready to work may put their strength and abilities in serving their fellowmen and earn a just salary.

You are the patron of families; do not let those who have children to support and raise lack the necessary means. Have pity on our brothers and sisters held down in unemployment and poverty because of sickness or social disorders. Help our political leaders and captains of industry find new and just solutions. May each and every one have the joy of contributing, according to his abilities, to the common prosperity by an honorable livelihood. Grant that we may all share together in the abundant goods God has given us and that we may help underprivileged countries. Amen.

Praying for your intentions and praying for your discernment.
 
It seems like everytime I try to make a portfolio I get driven crazy by contradictory spiritual impressions. I have scrupulosity but I also am told by my spiritual director to listen for the Holy Spirit. I havs four different people telling me different things to do, and it’s making me crazy. I think I committed a mortal sin today because I was so filled with rage.
