Prayer for fallen away Catholic family Members

Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant to us that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for us, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear our pleas
for all non practising Catholics and those discerning conversion to Catholicism, especially those

I feel the pain you feel. I am the father of six children and two have fallen away from the church. I pray and fast for them always. St. Monica pray for us and help our children.

mmpb, don’t despair. I, myself, strayed from the Church for thr better part o twenty years. My mother prayed fervently and daily for my return to the Church, which didn’t happen for nearly five years after her death, but it did happen.

St Monica is a powerful intercessor and as instrumental in both my return to the Church and th conversion of my stepson. While I agonized over my stepson’s pending conversion, a fellow prayer warrior pointed out to me a passage from the book of Jeremiah 31:16-17, “Stop your crying and wipe away your tears. All that you have done for your children will not go unrewarded, they will return from the enemy’s land. There is hope for your future; your children will come back home. I, the Lord, have spoken.”

I found great comfort in these words. I wrote them in the front cover of my Breviary, and read them every day before I pray to St Monica for her intercession.

Now I ask for her help, and the continued prayers of my brother and sister prayer warriors for my three younger step children, Cade (16), Silas (13) and Shani (11). I pray that the example of their big brother might inspire them to consider conversion to the Church as well.

Grant me the same fortitude, patience and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St Monica, that God may favorably hear my plea for our fallen away family members and grant me the grace to accept His will in all things. Amen.

Likewise IndyAnn. A most awesome day here as well. My step son, Ramsey, consented to coming into the Church. Because of his Catholic education our pastor has agreed to recieve him into the Church on the first weekend in August. The Mass I was having said on Tuesday to intercede for his conversion is now going to be a Mass of thanksgiving!

My most heartfelt thanks for all who have interceded on behalf of Ramsey, both among the Church Militant and the Church Triumphant. A big “shout out” to St. Monica without whose intercession this would not have been possible. I plan to drive across town to St Monica’s with a big bunch of flowers to place before your statue on Monday.
