I live in a city that has been struggling hard in the last 8 years. Unemployment is painfully high, people are running into tons of money problems, and businesses that used to be stable are fast going under. It’s not just my city, it’s several cities, but mine is one of the highest in the area. We’ve been in a constant recession since the great recession occurred, there have been a few months here and there where we escape it, only to end up back in it a month or two later.

Our government at the next level up has said that they plan to roll out a certain relief program for a minimum of one city, and a maximum of two as a “Trial Run”, but would only be in place temporarily, as an attempt to help our failing economy in various regions.

Many business I know could use the relief, and people with more spending power would greatly benefit many businesses. I’m not certain it would work, but it might buy us some time for things to pick up again.

It would also be great as I know some people who have to share a one bedroom literal hole in the ground with another person, including the only bed because people like this are just barely scraping by here.

I could tell many stories of the things I’ve seen, or the things I’ve heard going on here. If you could pray that my city or even region gets selected, I am sure many people here would be grateful.

They said they’d announce it before the end of the year, I just hope it’s sooner rather than later (They’ve already pushed back the date once).

I will certainly pray for your intention. But please permit me to say this additional thing. This is not the only post I have seen in which someone is in distress due to the lack of jobs. On the other hand, in some places, like where I live, there are a lot of jobs, good jobs, going wanting because there’s nobody to fill them. And it’s a low-cost part of the country besides. I realize some people can’t afford to move, or don’t want to move because of family. But still, I can’t help wondering why some folks don’t just pick up and move to places where employers are desperate for employees.

Prayer:
Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.
