Prayer for Handicapped

My older brother has cerebral palsy and while it is not always easy for our family, he is definitely a blessing for our family. Please pray for all our brothers and sisters who are handicapped and for those are entrusted to care for them.

Dear Jesus, there are many in this world
who have never had, or have lost a physical
or mental gift I so easily take for granted.
The blind, the deaf, the mute, the lame,
and mentally ill are with us.
Grant that I may always know that I must give of myself
to ease their trials and burdens.
May I always remember their needs and be just
and generous to them.
I thank You always for the gifts I have received
and ask a special blessing on all those who are handicapped.

A Novena Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Sacred Heart of Jesus, we know that there is but one thing impossible to You: to be without pity for those who are in suffering or distress. Look down on us, we beg of You and grant us the grace which we humbly and earnestly implore, through the Immaculate Heart of Your most sorrowful Mother to whom You confided us as her children, and whose prayers are all powerful with You. Amen.
 
I pray God will help - and use us to help - all the handicapped. And that that all of us with whole bodies might be truly thankful, and not waste them nor take them for granted.

in imitation of thy example
teach us to regard all trials and disappointments
as special graces sent by God
to elevate our thoughts and aspirations
above those things that end with time.
Let not the coldness of the world
nor the indifference of creatures embitter us,
but serve only to increase our Love for Jesus,
the One Friend who changes not.
May Love of Jesus inspire every thought,
word and deed of our lives,
becoming so wholehearted and intense,
that when earth grows dark and sorrows gather,
