John, gracious host over at ByzCath Forum, has been laid low by a nasty bout of illness keeping him homebound since early December. John is a cradle Ruthenian, although he presently worships with the Melkites,

Please keep John in prayer. He had seen some very minimal improvement this past week, but has had a really rough past 24 hrs. He’s scheduled for further tests this week that will hopefully provide his doctors a clue as to what’s going on and let them develop a successful treatment plan.

He sent a PM this morning to a member that he has gone to the hospital–pain too great to wait even one day longer.

Kyrie, eleison! Prayers that our friend John may be comforted and restored to health.

O Holy Father, Heavenly Physician of our souls and bodies, who have sent Your Only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ to heal all our ailments and deliver us from death: visit and heal Your servant John, granting him release from pain and restoration to health and vigor, that he may give thanks unto You and bless Your Holy Name, of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kindgom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliever us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Until the Ruthenian Divine Liturgy was revised John’s music sheet/missalettes were relied upon by Ruthenian parishes across the country. His forum sets the standard for building Eastern Christian community. Often imitated, never duplicated 🙂

He is a well regarded and very knowledgeable Eastern Christian. I can’t say enough about him.

Prayers for John that he has a speedy recovery and many happy healthy and holy years …

I have learned much and gained much by reading John`s forum, I add my humble prayers to those above.

Lord, look upon him with eyes of mercy, may Your healing hand rest upon him, may Your lifegiving powers flow into every cell of his body and into the depths of his soul, cleansing, purifying, restoring him to wholeness and strength for service in Your Kingdom.
Amen.

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight,
and give Your angels and saints charge over those who sleep.

Tend Your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest Your weary ones.
Bless Your dying ones.
Soothe Your suffering ones.
Pity Your afflicted ones.
Shield Your joyous ones, and all for Your love’s sake.
Amen.

In the name of the Father,
And of the Son,
And of the Holy Spirit
Amen.:signofcross:

While more recently I have had issues at the byzcath.org forums it is the place where I discovered my heritage and gained the knowledge that I am a Byzantine (Ruthenian) Catholic. I also owe some of my vocation to the site as it was through it that I met the Byzantine Carmelite that put me in touch with a Carmelite Vocations Director. Now I am coming up on the possibility of making my solemn vows later this year.

Amen.

PS: we need a sign of the cross smiley for us Easterners

John Vernoski is a great man of God who is extremely dedicated to Eastern liturgiology.

May God heal him and raise him up from his sick-bed as soon as possible!

Kirie Eleison!
