Prayer for me, please?

I am, for the first time ever, asking for a prayer for myself. After being away from Mass for a long time, I decided to go today, Easter, expecting and prepared for a comment or two from the congregation. I was pleasantly surprised that everyone was nice. The priest, however, was not, and I wasn’t prepared for that. Please pray that I will have the courage to face the scorn and will return next Sunday.
 
Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom back to the Church.

Praying in Thanksgiving for your return to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. May God reward you with the courage to face any challenges it creates, and also praying for your priest. God bless!

Hello Kalt, going to mass is not about the priest or the people…It is about Our Lord… I’m glad you went this Easter…

Lord Jesus, thank you for touching the heart of this child of yours. Thank you for bringing her back to the Church. May he/she be filled with your blessings and graces…

Oh, do tell, what happened? 🍿

It is my opinion that it is the clergy’s job to welcome ALL to the house of God. Sometimes God calls us to have courage to remind them of their duties. My grandmother used to say ‘they’re (ie the clergy) there to do a job for you’.

Thank you, everyone. The prayer to Saint Michael is one of my favorites.

Joy2Day, I think that this priest is just not a welcoming person. I know people in the parish who think he’s great and those who think he isn’t all that. The hard part is that I’m one of those who thinks he’s a good priest, and is a perfect complement to the other priest. One gives homilies on theology, which I love. The other priest gives homilies that are more social (? Not sure that’s the best descrption). Anyway, it’s uncomfortable being there. I was glad when I saw the other priest on the altar, and not so much when I approached the front of the aisle for communuon. I was the forst one up, and it was a loong walk with someone glaring at me. :eek:

I’ll go on Sunday and see how it goes. Maybe I’ll just keep my head down and negotiate communion more strategically. 😉 if it’s still bad, I’ll go to the next closest parish. That one is known for being very friendly, welcoming, and active. We’re supposed to go where we live, but if it’s a choice of being unhappy every Sunday and not going at all, maybe they will make an exception.

If switching parishes is the right answer, can any of you suggest a way to apply to the other parish without mentioning the first? I don’t want to bad-mouth the priest. Like I said, I like him.
