Prayer for my 9 yr. old nephew

Please pray for my 9 year old nephew, Luis, who was diagnosed today with hydrocephalus. He will need brain surgery. This is both sad and a relief to our family. This little boy has suffered in the last years from anger outburst and behavioral problem, child abuse from his dad and step-mom, divorce, school changes and much more. He has been labeled ADHD, Oppositional defiant, and sensory integration disorder. He has been through occupational therapy, counseling, behavioral therapy, biofeedback and more. He had a special brain scan called SPECT (lifebridgediagnostics.com/) that finally diagnosed him with hydrocephalus. He does not have a psychological problem. It is physical in nature and he needs brain surgery, a shunt to be exact to relieve the CSF in his brain.

We do not have the date of the surgery yet, but he sees the brain specialist next week and surgery will soon follow. Please pray for a safe surgery and a recovery. Thank you so much and God Bless you.

Oh my goodness, so sad, this little boy’s story…so young to have been through so much. God is always there to take care of us, and I know He’ll be watching over your nephew. My prayers are going to him and your family through this.

May God bless you with peace and comfort that the surgery goes well and that we all are praying for God’s assistance in your time of need. God help this boy to go through, come out of surgery alright and that he may gain health grace and blessings of longevity, wisdom and kindness toward others in similar crisis in his later years. God provide that this boy heal and grow in Your love and infinite wisdom, Amen

He sees the brain surgeon on Holy Thursday. The surgery date will be set then. They do first what to see why his CSF has increase. I will keep you updated and thank you for your prayers. A very wonderful homeschooler suggested something to me that on the date of his surgery that the entire 24 hours of that day, someone will be praying a rosary the entire 24 hours for a full and safe recovery. I have those in my family who are Catholic willing to do it. I thought I ask if I could count on some of you, because when it is night here it is daytime somewhere else in the would. Let me know who can do it. I will let you know the date and the hours needed.

Update on my nephew, Luis. He saw one of the doctors on Holy Thursday. It turns out that my sister misunderstood and he was to have the appointment for the following Thursday and not the Holy Thursday day. But since she was there, a doctor looked over the scans she had with her and saw my nephew and my sister. He said that a shunt in the brain is very serious surgery for it would have to be replaced often as he grows up and they had to make sure he really needs one. They first needed to find out why he has increase CSF. So this doctor ordered an MRI of his brain, the spine and the neck. He also ordered a special eye exam to see the optic nerve and measure the pressure of his eye. They want to see if this increase if coming from his eyes or the spine. Once they get the results of all these test, then they will decide on surgery and if a shunt is needed to relieve the pressure in his brain. In the meantime, the doctor did tell my sister that the fluid is mostly in the frontal and left side of his brain. The frontal lobe controls our behavior. He said that would explain what we can’t reason with his and why he doens’t understand right from wrong. In the meantime, he is misbehaving in school. He is going back to half days at school. He can’t make it a full day. My sister has to deal with him like this for two more weeks until the test are all done.

We are all praying that he gets the best doctor of the three doctors in the group. He is a Christian and prays all during his surgery for his patient. I have a homeschool mom whose daughter had him as a doctor and he did this and allowed her to tape the brown scapular to her hand during the surgery even though he is not Catholic. He prayed with the parents before the surgery and after the surgery in thanksgiving. He is now a professor at our local university and has little time in his practice but we are praying we get him for our Luis. Please pray for that if it be God’s will. We pray for a miraculous cure, but if he needs surgery, we pray for the best in the Orlando area. He is the best.

So that is what is new with him. He has his First Holy Communion on the 25th of April and we hope his behavior will not get in the way of him receiving this very important sacrament.

The one of the brain reveal hypoplastic vermis with rotation/dandy walker variant with associated hydrocephalus. We are unsure what all this means but know it is congenital. He sees his neurosurgeon on Tuesday the 21st and he will explain this finding. This is just what we read on the report given to us.

Keep praying please. My sister doesn’t want him to have brain surgery. We are not in the 27 days of Thanksgiving Rosary Novena to our Lady of the Rosary.

I meant we are now in the 27 days of Rosary Novena of Thanksgiving part to Our Lady. Pray for my sister too, she is scared.
