Prayer for one or all? St Cyprian quote

“The Master of unity did not wish prayer to be offered individually and privately as one would pray only for himself…he wished one to pray for all, just as he himself bore all in one.” – St. Cyprian

I just found this quote and wondered others thoughts and reasoning on it. This is true, Jesus bore all in one. Then I considered…He prayed to the Father, asking if it was his will, for this to be removed from him.

Just as the Spirit prompted Paul to
offer up his own salvation up in hope
that God will save his own people,
the Holy Spirit inspired Jesus to

Is this from his commentary on the Lord’s Prayer? Even if not, we can look at his statement through the lens of that most perfect prayer, the way the Lord Himself taught us to pray.

Notice that when Jesus taught us how to pray, he instructed us not to use the first-person singular, but rather the plural–our, us, etc. It shows that the diversity of souls across the Church speak with one accord, and that accord is the will of Christ, Who saved many individual souls but one people. Thus, in our prayer we pray with and for that one people.

Thus the Apostles after the Ascension were reported to have prayed with one accord, as well all the orders of angels mentioned in our Eucharistic Prefaces are said to pray the Sanctus with one voice just as we do at Holy Mass, to cite a few examples from Scripture and liturgy.
