Prayer For Souls Drawn Down Through Wasted Seed

I know that we pray for those who are in purgatory, but there is no prayer in Catholicism for souls that are drawn down for wasted seed.

In Judaism, it is taught that every time seed is wasted, it causes souls to be drawn down out of heaven, but since they don’t have anywhere to go, they are tormented by demons in the lower levels of heaven. I can’t prove that this belief is true or not, but we do get the idea purgatory from the Jews, so I make an effort to pray for the unborn souls that have been drawn down just like I pray for those in purgatory. I would appreciate it if those reading this would also pray for them when you are praying for the souls in purgatory, that they will be rescued by angels and brought back into heaven, and also that God will help people to stop wasting seed, so these things won’t happen.
 
Hi, yahwehsdaughter. I appreciate and understand the sentiment. I see you identify as a Messianic Jew. Catholics do not believe in the pre-existence of souls. We believe souls are created when a person comes into bodily existence, which at earliest would be at conception.

CCC 1703 Endowed with “a spiritual and immortal” soul, the human person is “the only creature on earth that God has willed for its own sake.” From his conception, he is destined for eternal beatitude.
 
I’m confused by the wording. Does “willed for its own sake” imply that souls are created only after a body is formed?

I would like to believe that the Jewish belief of souls being attacked by demons in the lower heavens is false, and I will believe that it is false if I see that the catechism contradicts that belief, but I don’t see how CCC 1703 implies that souls are only created one at a time after a body is formed in the womb. I don’t want to stop praying for those souls until I know for sure that this is not true and they are not in danger.

I hope I don’t come off difficult or argumentative 😞. It’s not my intention. I’m just trying to understand things clearly.
 
366 The Church teaches that every spiritual soul is created immediately by God - it is not “produced” by the parents - and also that it is immortal: it does not perish when it separates from the body at death, and it will be reunited with the body at the final Resurrection.

I could find more specific references outside the Catechism, too.

Is this something from Torah (Old Testament) Judaism, or is this some kind of Talmudic or kabbalistic teaching that arose after the Incarnation of Christ? If the latter — and you as a Messianic Jew should appreciate this — is the case, this “teaching” would have no binding force of belief whatsoever.

The perennial teaching of the Church is that the soul is infused into the conceived entity sometime at or after conception — a precise moment, we cannot p(name removed by moderator)oint, as Almighty God has not revealed this to His Church. Aquinas said 40 days after conception for a male, 80 days for a female, but he was not infallible, nor was he, by himself, the teaching Church, and we are not bound to accept this. The distinction between male and female souls would be grotesque to modern sensibilities anyway. Some contemporary faithful Catholics elevate it almost to the point of dogma that the soul is infused at the very instant of conception, but in spite of their protestations, this does not bind either. They may be right, but we cannot know that with certainty.

I use the analogy of the hunter with a rifle. If he knows that there is nobody in his line of fire, he may shoot. If he is uncertain, he may not shoot. “Probably not” will not help the person whom he accidentally shoots and kills because he thought it was a deer or a squirrel rustling behind that foliage. Anything from conception onwards is uncertain. Therefore we have to treat it as though it is a human person with an immortal soul, and not do anything to harm or kill it.

The great chasm is what came to my mind. I hope it’s a bit relevant for you.
 
The teaching is from kabbalah. Thanks for your reply and clearing things up for me.

To be drawn out of heaven assumes a God who changes his mind about prior souls’ judgment and commits revenge on wasteful people by taking it out on poor, innocent souls. Don’t believe that!
