Prayer for the Intercession of Servant of God Dorothy Day

God our Creator,
Your servant Dorothy Day exemplified the
Catholic faith by her conversion,
life of prayer and voluntary poverty,
works of mercy, and
witness to the justice and peace
of the Gospel.
May her life
inspire people
to turn to Christ as their savior and guide,
to see his face in the world’s poor and
to raise their voices for the justice
of God’s kingdom.
We pray that you grant the favors we ask
through her intercession so that her goodness
and holiness may be more widely recognized
and one day the Church may
proclaim her Saint.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

I pray for her intercession and canonization along with you. Her checkered past before her conversion, and then the radical way that she embraced the Gospel as she matured, are the very things which attract me to her - and which still make her a polarizing figure for some of us. While she is a hero to many progressives in the Church, I am also impressed by how conservative she became in many ways: in her personal devotions, in her balanced understanding of both solidarity and subsidiarity, and in her strong commitment to life at all stages. Dorothy Day, Servant of God, pray for us!

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray.
