Lord God, we find ourselves surrounded by human values that have no place in Your kingdom. That which is most sacred to You is lessened and made common on earth, things the world now accepts as natural that offend You. We are surrounded by these things daily, we find ourselves growing callous to what used to offend us. Our hearts and souls want to follow Your Holy teachings, and our human minds wants to “fit in” to this world.

Lord, illuminate our spirits to recognize right from wrong, and protect us from temptation. Keep our hearts tender, that we might resist evil rather than accept in our lives what offends You. Give us discernment, Lord, in our everyday affairs so that when the important Christian issues face us, we will be prepared to do what is right and good. Lord, give us courage to say yes to Your goodness. Grant us the strength to walk away from all that offends You. Help us, Jesus, to stay close to You even as we live each day in a world that sometimes professes allegiance to You but more often accepts compromises than following Your commands. Through the gifts of Your Holy Spirit, may we find the graces we need to live in accordance with Your Divine Will and may these graces be given to all those we love, and to Your true believers. Thank you, Jesus. Amen!
