I have some family who were raised in a Christian home, were baptized as teen-agers and professed faith in Christ at that time and for some time following, but now in later life are openly stating they don’t believe Christ is God, nor do they believe in a personal God. These changes of belief came about gradually throughout the lives of the older ones, and more suddenly by some next generations in college, but for most of them the contention regards: if the Bible is True, how can this God allow so much suffering? But it is not just an emotional response. These are extremely intelligent folks who have studied much, traveled, served, etc… Three of those who I have heavily weighing on my heart are active Unitarian-Universalists. And they openly state they don’t believe in Christ. I am so saddened by this, and altho’ I’ve known this a while, part of me feels in shock. I need to join with others in prayer for these beloved family. I also need prayers for myself, that I not despair, that I persevere in prayer, that I not give up the fight (spiritual), and that I continue to love them, hopefully love them with Christ’s Love. Please join me in praying for those who have once professed faith in Christ, and then have in later life rejected Him. And if you have any Scripture references or writing or links to sites that would strengthen my prayers for this kind of concern, please share them. I am eager for help! Christ’s Love, Joy, and Peace to all who intercede for others, and may the Lord protect us. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit! As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen!
