Greetings~
I do not like to ask for prayers for myself. However, this is something I have been struggling for a few years with. After exposing myself to Wicca, Judaism, Hinduism and other non-catholic religions (under the guise of ‘spiritual seeking’), I have found it very difficult to believe in Christianity. I am constantly questioning whether or not Jesus was the Messiah, if the bible is true or even good for our society and judging all Christians by the evils of a few.
This is really painful to me because I am in Recovery and I need Jesus. I need the Catholic Church and it’s teachings on repentance, values, morals and integrity. The religion I choose for myself is Catholicism but it has been very difficult for me to have faith. I keep praying “Jesus, help my unbelief” and asking the Holy Spirit to come into my soul and that is helping but I was hoping maybe having some prayers sent my way may help as well.
Thanks,
Jen

I’m praying for you, that you may find the answers you need and help with your current situation.

You seem to be on your way. Lord Jen does believe please help her un-belief and bless her with the gift of true faith. Amen

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

If you need prayer… ask. I understand your humility, but don’t be afraid. You cannot get the help you need, unless you ask for it. 😉 Second, I dont know how much Judaism you exposed yourself to, but you will find your exposure to Judaism will ENHANCE your understanding of the New Testament. Let the Holy Spirit use that knowledge to ENRICH your appreciation for Christ.

You will know the Tree by its Fruits… The teachings, ethics, values and sacraments (especially the Eucharist and Reconcilliation) are the fruits of the Catholic Christian Tree. Embrace them as you work through Recovery… and give yourself time.
You are and will be in my prayers.

Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

I am in the same spot as you.

After taking psychadelic drugs, exposing myself to Buddhism and other various beliefs it is much harder to believe in Catholicism. I will pray for you!

I know you can do it!

Try reading a few articles from Peter Kreeft he presents Catholicism in a very logical way, it really helped me.

Petite, et dabitur vobis (“Ask and it shall be given to you”)

PATER NOSTER,
qui es in caelis,
sanctificetur nomen tuum.
Adveniat regnum tuum.
Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
et dimitte nobis debita nostra
sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem,
sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

Well, thank you so, so much for all of your prayers! I feel so much better knowing that there are people out there asking the Lord to help me. I will seek out Confession again- I went 3 weeks ago. I haven’t recieved communion for a while because I felt like it would be disrespectful to Jesus.
Chelsea, thank you for the link! We should warn others about being really careful about seeking spirituality outside our faith. It can certainly do much harm. I will pray for you, too. Perhaps we can both be set free of this terrible situation. Until then, more and more prayer. I may not have much faith right now but I do have confidence!
Many thanks,
Jen
