Hail Mary,
full of grace,

By your Son’s dying and rising He remains our light in every darkness, our strength in every weakness.

Be the refuge and guardian of all who suffer from abuse and violence.

Comfort them and send healing for their wounds of body, soul and spirit.

Rescue them from bitterness and shame and refresh them with your love.

Heal the brokenness in all victims of abuse and revive the spirits of all who lament this sin.

Help us to follow Jesus in drawing good from evil, life from death.

Make us one with you in your love for justice as we deepen our respect for the dignity of every human life.

Giver of peace, make us one in celebrating your praise, both now and forever.

Oh, be in a very special way the Good Shepherd of those poor lost priests
who are also appointed by Thee to be leaders of Thy people,
but who have broken the oath of their holy ordination
and have become unfaithful to their exalted calling.
Bestow upon these poorest of the poor
the very fullness of that pastoral solicitude
with which Thou dost so faithfully seek the sheep that are lost!
Touch their hearts with the irresistible ray of grace
which emanates from Thine all-merciful love!
Enlighten their minds and strengthen their wills,
that they may turn away from all sin and error
and come back to Thy holy altar and to Thy people.

Prayer for the Sexually and Physically Abused

Divine Mercy, I beg of You to protect all those helpless children who are physically and sexually abused, especially by those whose duty it is to guide and protect them on earth. Send down Your enveloping cloak of Mercy and wrap it around these poor children, enfolding them in Your love and protection. Send forth Your rays of Blood and Water to cleanse and renew the souls of those who perpetrate these vile acts of Satan. Let the powerful image of Your Divine Mercy find a way of entering the homes of the families affected by physical and sexual abuse, and as You have promised, may Your graces flow from it to renew and restore them. O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You. Amen.

We ask you to help us find healing and peace in our lives. Grant us hope in these times of trial. May Maria Goretti, who was strengthened by Your Grace, join with us in prayer for healing of all victims of abuse, particularly those abused as children or young adults.

Fill us with Your Love so that, as Maria prayed for her attacker, we too might have the courage to pray for the true conversion of our abusers, that they might seek Your Mercy through prayer and penance.

Loving God, pour into our hearts and lives Your healing Spirit, that the sacredness of every human person might be respected and protected as the precious image of God. Help us to live in the peace which Maria Goretti found in Christ and in the love of His mother, Mary.

Prayer For a Victims of Abuse

O Lord, shower Your mercy and aid upon people suffering
consequences of bad choices born out of unhealed abuse;
Call to repentance and conversion anyone who enabled abuse;
Protect from suspicion those who are worthy of trust;
For victims being abused, strengthen them
with courage and wisdom to know who to turn to for help;
Refresh the faith of those who absorb in their spirit
the shared pain of victims;
Give us all a renewed voice to the message
of forgiveness and new life, brought to perfection on the cross.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
