I am a stay at home Father of two kids. My wife was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes recently. She has been sleeping all day today. She has been tired for a long time. I am asking for her to find some joy again. I feellikeI am being selfish but most everything else is falling on my shoulders. I ask for strength and not to be angry. I also ask for prayers to remain pure and stay away from porn. Thank you so much.

Praying for your Wife’s good health, for you, for your Family, and for her doctors/medical caregivers. Prayer of Apology and Thanksgiving because of forgetfulness to say “thank You” to Our Lord for all the blessings He pours on us and we do not even realize it. Your servant, St. Josemaría Escrivá, was cured after suffering with diabetes for ten years. He used his many obstacles and physical ailments as a passageway to holiness. Through his experiences you taught him that sorrow is the touchstone of love. Overcome my sorrow with Your enduring love and purify my body and soul. I ask this through the intercession of Mary,

I am a Type I, diagnosed as a young adult. Type I and Type II have little in common, but either way it is a very hard diagnosis to receive. In the diabetes community, it is generally understood that Type Is are given a much better and more comprehensive education in food and its effect on blood sugar. Type IIs tend to be left out in the cold. If your wife’s doctor did not send her to an endocrinologist, or if she has been given by any doctor a (usually very short) list of foods it’s “ok” to eat – please pursue further education for her. Specifically, you want her to learn “carb counting” and related skills. It will give her a sense of control and help her to understand that it’s possible to be a diabetic and have a good quality of life.I have unfortunately met several doctors who communicate the opposite, and they’re just plain wrong.

In case you weren’t already aware, excessive fatigue is a symptom of high blood sugar; with a diagnosis like that, it could possibly be a symptom of depression as well. I’ve prayed for you, your family, and especially your wife. I hope her adjustment will be swift, and that she will find her joy again soon.
