Coming on my Second Anniversary of coming into the Church, I feel like I am losing my spirituality - I use to pray the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet daily, Pray morning and evening prayers, and daily prayers. I have not done that in almost 2 months. And I do not know what to do! Please give me suggestions on how to pray differently. What have you done?

I beg for your help! Thank you!

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon Seth_Teen in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.
Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,
saying:
Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:
Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:
Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,
troubles and sorrows:
Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:
Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:
Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good
come from my efforts:
Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:
Jesus, help me!
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and
I am lonely:
Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-
comings of every kind:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Amen

Try to do Three Hail Marys devotion, daily.

Attend daily mass, monthly confession.

Pray and make sacrifices for sinners.

Every time you suffer, offer it up to God as a sacrifice. Lucia (the three children of Fatima), said, Mary said, every time you make a sacrifice say, “O Jesus, this is for love of you, for conversion of sinners . In reparation for the sins committed against the immaculate heart of Mary.”

When you pray the rosary or divine mercy chaplet, offer it up for three intentions. For conversion of sinners, perseverance of the just, relief for souls in purgatory.

Jesus, Mary, save souls!

Also, you can do the Jesus prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner!

Say this throughout the day.

Try Chaplet of St Gertrude for the Souls in Purgatory.

Using ordinary rosary beads:

Eternal Father, I offer you the most precious Blood of your Divine Son Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, those in my own home and within my family.
Amen

Say this through 150 rosary beads.

Instead of reeling of prayer by rote, you need to access your reason for becoming Catholic.

Was it to join a religion or ideological group that was attractive to you ?

Or, was it to follow Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior and grow closer to Him ?

Only you can answer this.

Christianity isn’t moralistic or ideological, its mystical.

Many have religion without spirituality and they get bored reciting prayers over and over that have no effect for them.

I believe that those who do not grow toward contemplation, will become people who are religious, but not spiritual.

Only Jesus can transform the heart toward contemplation.

So, the focus of your intention must always be centered on Christ who dwells within.

Hi Seth,

I had mentioned in your other thread what I do, which is to break things into small amounts when I feel overwhelmed.

It’s like starting over, where you just do what you can, depending on how much time you have available to you. If you have time for a Divine Mercy Chaplet, then pray that, as an example.

Please try not to worry too much. Just do your best. 🙂

Sometimes we can also be going through a time of trial of what’s called “spiritual dryness,” where we just can’t seem to pray, even though our heart wants to be in it, and where we may seem far away from God. This darkness will pass, too. It may hang around for awhile, but it does pass, in time.

The thing to do is to keep on going to Mass in the meantime, and just do what you normally would do, with faith.

You can pray what are called “ejaculatory prayers,” which are short prayers like, “Jesus, help me.” “Jesus, I trust in you.” Jesus, I love you." Jesus, Mary, Joseph." “Lord, have mercy.” And so on. You can pray these short prayers when you feel like you are unable to pray but want to have a prayer to say.

If it is any comfort to you, you are not alone. Many new converts feel what you expressed after a period of time. It is similar to a couple after the honeymoon is over. Hard love then takes over … doing for each other out of love but that love is not so fresh and easy any more.

It is good that you see this is happening and have become aware of it so you can understand it and not panic. It’s pretty normal. Don’t feel as tho your love for Jesus is shrinking … it isn’t. But now the hard reality sets in and Jesus looks you in your eyes, and asks the question … “are you willing to follow me?” “Then take up your daily cross and follow me.”

So now is the time to make up your mind to follow the world and self inclinations, or to follow your best friend and mine, Jesus. He asks you mainly for your benefit … because he loves you and never under any conditions ask you to do something that you don’t need or would not make you a better person.

May God smile on you Seth, and I will remember you in prayer.
